I don't get it.....

But....but........isn't the NFL as American as Mom and apple pie????

Drew Brees has a year, or two, left in the league....tops.
Might be time to hang it up early.....before he is forced to.

FREE speech ONLY if you agree?

How about this - stop announcing all the players before a game.
Announce the team and let them all come out and kneel, snort coke, wack off, whatever floats their boats for 1 minute.

THEN play the freaking game.

Why is it necessary for them to piss of and DISHONOR all those who actually respect the flag and those who died to protect it?
And those in the stands who PAY their salary?

Screw them. You are paid to play a game for our entertainment. Go find your own way to get your"message" out. You have a to more money that you are worth - but an ad in the Times. Lots of wackos read the Times.

Anyone who kneels during the NA is a POS.
If this country is that bad, maybe YOU should be out there doing something constructive about it instead of playing games.
It’s not that you can’t say it.

It was not the appropriate time.

And later backtracked when it caused a stir among teammates.

Actually, I do not believe he was worried about his "teammates" reactions. Hell he wasn't worried about team mate reactions for the past four years so why now??

He is very nearing retirement. Also almost assuredly has a high priced gig as an analyst once retired. So lets see how the gig works out when all the protestors are calling for Brees rot be "done".

You see Horsey stated it clearly....."Forced out"

The left only has tolerance and patience when it agrees with them. God forbid you disagree. The Brees family has received many death threats over the last few days.

Can you NAME ANY PLAYER who has done as much for New Orleans (the city and the African American community) as Brees has done over the past several years?????

So Brees comes out, states his feelings on the flag and kneeling, and now the guy is the biggest racist to walk the earth??? GTFOH!!!

He has to back track, apologize twice, his wife apologizes, and he has to basically tell Trump to kick rocks as well to save his family and livelihood???
GTFOH!!

The closest the NFL comes to being like Mom is if your Mom is Carsei Lannister, Livia Soprano or Norma Bates.

As for apple pie, it isn't even American. Apple pie was "born" in Britain and "grew up" in France as the dessert we know and love.

He made a mistake saying what he said at the time he said and apologized.

End of story.

A "mistake," or was it pressure? You already suggested a potential threat to come. Is that your mindset? The words were out of your mouth. How big is your stick...or worse?

The mistake that he made was to apologize.

The Saints have big problems. You have two players, complete newcomers to the team, calling out the team leader. While Brees doesn't figure to play many more seasons, neither do Malcolm Jenkins and Emmanuel Sanders, the two newcomers to call out Brees. This is inexcuseable, and its on Payton now. He has a divided locker room (despite Brees' alleged apology). They brought in two troublemakers; at veteran paychecks who are on the clear downside of their careers.

Saints Under 10 1/2 wins (widely available)

Hope the NO fans still have those paper bags to wear to games.
They can use them when they stop to loot some stores on their way home from the games.

Multi-tasking!

He should have kept quiet. Say nothing, its your best defense anymore.
If nothing else just retire, he can probably well afford it. May even be the Lords way of saying "get out, before some leftist bitter linebacker takes your head off".
