Vitali suspended for a year after running off with package
Quote:
According to Wayne, a DTRC investigator had entered the dorm room of one of Vitali's employees on an unrelated matter when the incident occurred.
"Marcus pushed his way through security, withdrew a package that was bubble-wrapped, and ran off," Wayne said.
Security gave chase to no avail, and no one has located the package, which Vitali claimed to have thrown in the trash.
Vitali "claimed that it was just two marijuana joints," Wayne said. "But why would you keep it refrigerated and in bubble wrap?"
Additionally, veterinarian Dr. Don Johnson testified at Vitali's hearing that earlier in the meet, the trainer "had given him a vial of reddish-brown liquid and asked that he administer it to a horse," Wayne said.

When a man has to pop some bubble wrap he needs some privacy to pop his bubble wrap.

My big question is how wasn't this guy caught before he got 100 yards? He doesn't exactly look like Usain Bolt. Maybe whatever was in the package is THAT good?

"Security gave chase to no avail"
So I guess only a single checkpoint, so any funny business has to be handled by security at that single checkpoint who have to be fast runners (i.e. young people)? and chase down people?
Seems like a strange security protocol.
Most places would have security posted at different spots and at intervals, and they are all wired with headsets to put out calls to the entire team.
As for refrigeration, usually only injectables and/or organs are carried in this manner.....not 2 joints, which also suspiciously disappeared and cannot be found ie. contents of package.
Totally shady and they also need to rework their security protocols. If this was a barn with horses scheduled for a big stakes race the next day, somebody's horse could easily be both poisoned or shot up.
Given the level of shady here, a 10 year suspension would seem more fitting. Not that it matters. Suspended trainers continue to race horses as we know, by paperwork changes.

Have you ever seen the security guards at Delaware? Must be either 75years old or 50 pounds overweight to hold that position.

I qualify for that position, and if this guy saw me chasing him, he would have stopped instantly.
And called for medical support.

Integrity is clearly an issue, however you can be confident that his joints are fresh, and undamaged.

will his horses get transferred to another trainer? His lone entrant at the Spa today scratched... maybe for this reason or not.

A year suspension may sound substantial, but it also means that after a year he'll be back.

wow it seems like a few joints may have been something else and this clown just made it worse by intervening.
