Strictly as a racing fan, I'm really looking forward to the San Antonio. It's the first race this year that I really want to see. Almost certainly won't be wagering on it, however. None of the three stakes on that card appeal to me as a bettor.

How about Alfa Bird? He set pretty fast fractions (half mile in 46) last time in a nine furlong race and won.

Alfa Bird was loose on the lead vs. N1X competition on a day when all six dirt winners were 1st or 2nd after 2f. Now taking on genuinely top-class animals. No thanks.

I'm not sure what else he could have done. He ran fast and earned a triple digit TimeformUS number, one within range of the big 3.

I like Alfa Bird. At least he will be ignored and he's 2 for 2 in routes.

He just needs to make one more step.

These are older horses, not early-season 3YO's. N1X to legit champion-calibre 4YO+ competition is a whole lot more than "one step."

I'm starting to think Rock Shandy is a solid sort.
A 290k purchase for Donegal,he's shown more speed then expected and handled the dirt nicely when 2nd to Calculator.
I'll play him.

Two exciting battles between the two horses that laid over the others in each race. Fun to watch. Those are four nice runners. Shared Belief is some kind of horse. And the Lewis figures are going to come back big for an early February 3YO prep.

Those seem about right. The San Antonio was like a turf race.

Equibase figure for Shared Belief was 120, Dortmund, 114 (Constitution got a 117 for comparison to Shared Belief)
