TV's priority is not entertainment

Let me be very, very, clear here. I am not a sexist. In fact, my life, for the most part has been ruled by women much smarter and braver than I could ever be. And I am all the better for it.

But it really tweaks me that television now puts political agenda before entertainment. In what universe, for example, do 110 lb female cops throw tatted up 240 lb thugs around like paper airplanes??? And, in what America is EVERY federal judge an Asian female?????

What world do the people who make these shows (and commercials) live in?? And what agenda, for GOD'S sake is being shoved down our throats???

I am as mindful of the need for social change as ANYBODY. But I DON'T kick back and flip on the tv so that these idiots can make obtuse, inappropriately placed efforts to indoctrinate or brainwash me. Is that really what a tv series is for?????????

Most TV sucks.
It is geared to short-attention spanned idiots.

Not really anything on the big three networks is worth watching.
Few exceptions. Like Survivor. Amazing Race. Real life losers proving it!

Ever notice that when a TV show goes to commercial -- which is usually what, 8-9 minutes, 32 commercials? -- they come back and replay about 3 minutes of content before the commercial? Knowing most can't remember that far back! A lot of times, when a commercial comes on, I surf around to see what else is on. I forget a lot of times what the heck I was watching. IT as so entertaining....

I stick with only news and sports. Occasionally I'll look at some old sitcoms from 40+ years ago or documentaries that interest me.
Otherwise most of anything else for me is just a pile of shit. The comedies aren't funny, the drama is too fake and ridiculous, and talk shows are just a method for leftist assholes to spew hate and lies. There are exceptions of course, but just way to few for me to watch.

Nothing worse than today's so-called comedians.
Being funny is not longer a requirement I guess.

Absolutely right!

What we are experiencing is agenda-based TV at every turn.

A few examples...

1. Every police show has to have at least one female senior officer and usually two. They make up at least half of all supervisors and a significant percentage of street officers.

2. Female police officers are always capable of delivering a couple of good punches to disable an opponent who is 100+ lbs heavier.

3. Every family has to have at least one gay person, and they are always so happy and just have life together.

4. Street people are almost always educated and articulate. Nobody talks like someone who has resisted learning proper grammar.

5. All the bad guys are firing automatic weapons.

The point is that everything... every show... every news broadcast... every story told... points to what the media, and, by extension, the left-wing wants you to believe is reality.

To make matters worse, the stories are getting more blatantly political. Like Madam Secretary, who had Colin Powell, Madeleine Albright and Hillary Clinton on to build the liberal case.

And every gun battle is on par with D Day in terms of shots fired.
And after firing 10s of thousand of rounds, at best, one guy gets hit. But he alway survives.

I still remember one REAL news story a few years ago.
Three guys get into a gun battle in an ELEVATOR!
Over 30 shots fired in a closed ELEVATOR and no one was hit! LULZ!

The saddest part of all is that, even after living as long as we have...we can't entertain ourselves without turning on the idiot box.

TV has never been better. Granted you must be selective in what you watch. Seems you guys are going out of your way to play to the agendas of your parties. You are allowed to change the channel. If you want news I'd suggest TV is the last place to look.

A very much underrated show was Deadwood. Too bad it didn't last longer.

Well, not without damaging our eyesight.

Eyesight or not...there comes a time when we have to take matters into our own hand.

Women are just better actors and so get more roles, clearly. It is meritocracy in action. Can't prove either way.

Cop show Southland dealt with this topic in an interesting way. was a good show but got cancelled, unfortunately.

Well there certainly are many more shows to choose from now with cable TV, Amazon, Netflix and Hulu having original programming. The difficult part with this many shows is finding which ones are appealing and then keeping up with them. I have not actually seen the majority of the shows being reference in this thread. Well actually, it has been more generalizing than actual examples, but it is probably true!
