One thing the market collapse is doing is it's bringing out all the newsletter writers. I've gotten at least 10 emails telling me how each one of these guys had all their clients out just before the decline. I could never figure out how they get my email but they do.

this country is busted, disgusted and can't be trusted. i would love to see how they bail all these business's and people out, at the same time come up with all the money to beat this virus.

Italy had 475 deaths from the corona today, in about a month we will have ten times that .
We won't get near the same death rate as Italy. It's an old country with a lot of smokers. Old smokers don't fare well vs this virus.

i don't think the corona had anything to with bringing the market down. i don believe it was the catalyst.

if you were a good trader in March, you would have made fortunes. if you were ever able to hold your positions overnight and were in the right direction, you did plenty of damage.

I agree it was the catalyst, albeit a significant catalyst.

Stocks were overbought. Market had gone up too much too quick. We never really fixed the 2009 recession; just kicked the can down the road a full decade. And there's problems in the credit markets.

Good point - looks like about 23% of Italians smoke vs 14% of Americans. The American number for those over 65 is about 8%. I couldn't find the comparable number for Italy, but I'd guess it's much higher.

Smoking isn't the only health hazard. I don't know about Italy...but a casual glance at our own older citizens proves that we are not "pictures of health" ourselves.

Not looking like a "picture of health" is one thing. Italy and a number of European countries are loaded with chain smokers. This virus attacks the lungs.

P.A./Valuist...this....didn't understand why antibiotic would work either...perhaps 46 can explain it clearer...

I have worked with MANY herbicides, insecticides and fungicides....and sometimes a combo that really shouldn't do all that much....is 10x's more effective...for what-ever reason....

Viruses attack immune systems...and the immune systems are weakened by a wide variety of diseases and conditions. If smoking was such a high risk against this virus...then the Russians would be hurt by it much more than the Italians are.

When this is over what is going to happen to the Consumer Price Index? The money lost has to be made up.
