B Pedroza took a bad fall in race 7 at Delaware on the very short favourite which looked like it broke down. Anyone know if Pedroza is injured or if the horse died?

So sad.....the game is hardly a game when you are part of it.

Could rails be done away with for thoroughbreds and quarter horses like they have been for harness racing? They rarely ever came into play but when they do it can be ugly.

problem with removing rails is all the infrastructure in the infield...lamp posts, finish line equipment, drainage channels, tote board, ponds, etc.

if those issues could be dealt with, it would be safer...give the horses another place to go to avoid an accident.

by the way, the Van Wert fair in Ohio runs a day of thoroughbred on a track with no inside rail; most steeplechases also do not have rails.

Looks like he landed directly on his back. He was thrown over the rail quite a distance. Prayers to his family. RIP Mario. I hate when these accidents happen; very scary outcomes.
