Congrats Charli125
Charlie finished second overall this past weekend in the 2016 Handicapping Challenge at Del Mar.
Tournament format: $7,000 Buy-In. $5,000 of that becomes the player's live bankroll and the remaining $2,000 goes towards the prize pool.
GREAT JOB!

I received that email. I think it was yesterday and didn't realize who #2 was. So, good 'capping. But, you didn't scroll far enough, IMO.

I deleted the email and don't know how to post a screen shot if I still had it but, I saw one of my favorite former track announcers on the list. I think he was #7 or somewhere around there .... that guy can handicap IMO.

Jeff posted the top 15 and don't see any track announcers I know. Maybe somebody was a speed and fade?

My mistake. I went to the Del Mar website and the notice which I read late yesterday was after day 1 and he was #5. I haven't checked today's emails.

Charlie
Congrats on the success. Sorry about the finish.
I am interested in your thought process going in to last race. I happened to see the twitter update from either Quigley or DMTC that mentioned standings prior to last race and saw you were in 3rd about 4K behind. Leader lost 1.6K and you made 2.5K in last race. Did you have a target going in to last race, assuming the leader would also bet?
Losing by breakage with those dollars is tough.
I have not played many live bankroll events as I have little discipline and treat it too much like pretend money.
Again, congrats.

Wow Great
Congrats Charlie....What was the prize payoff for this contest ? Also it shows
you as being bonus eligible what does that mean? You are one of the best
contest players I have ever met...Remember Keeneland?
Hi Jeff I don't frequent the site any more because I lost my username/password when my computer crashed..Hope you both are
doing well...Have a great day...

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I really appreciate it. Some answers below. Big congrats to the winner too. As much as it hurt, he was a complete gentleman. I heard, but didn't verify that the winner bet a $3,800 straight tri on Chrome/Dortmund/whoever ran 3rd. Not my style, but damn did it work! Dennis in 3rd moved up by betting 300 Win/Show on the 7! All sorts of different styles.

I had a target and the target was to guarantee 7K profit or lose it all and drop out of the top 5. I liked the 11 at a big price so bet $300 WP, then played exotics keying the horses I thought made more sense, only using the 11 sparingly underneath. I had 6 and 8 big in tri's and exactas. In the end, only my $200 exa 6/8,10 hit, so I wasn't close to my target. The 7 horse that ran 3rd blew up my tickets unfortunately because I was looking at tri's from 50-125 depending on the others running 3rd.

Funny you say that, my first thought was, "there goes CA screwing me with their takeout again"!

I made 45K and got a BCBC seat and an NHC seat. Winner got 30K more.

Of course I remember Keeneland! So Santa Anita bought an insurance policy so that if you win their tournament AND the BCBC, you get "a million bucks". It's actually an annuity, but let's not quibble. DMR didn't have the same thing so a group of players decided to do the same thing. It cost $6,500 and an * means that you pitched in, and thus if you won you're eligible for the bonus.
