Best Inexpensive Tablet for PP's
Looking for an inexpensive tablet to view BRIS pp's, monitor odds, surf the net, check Facebook, etc. Any recommendations?
Same question again, including Excel capability?

Those are great deals Delta! Question for you Vinman, does it have to be Excel? Can it be Google Sheets? If you need Excel, you may wish to go for a laptop. This will give you more functionality, but will be larger. If you just need pdf capability and spreadsheets for record keeping, etc., go for a tablet. Costco is a great place to look. I got a Samsung tablet which I just love for under $200.

Sounds like a windows tablet to me.
If you go with a laptop, I would get a touch screen

Thanks for the input guys. This tablet search is 90% driven by my 4 year old IPad air's inability to download BRIS PP's any longer after BRIS changed their website a few months ago. Used to be no problem at all.
Maybe I should take this IPad into an Apple store and make one last attempt to get it to work with the current BRIS website. I have had no problem viewing Trackmaster Harness pp's on this IPad.
Nevertheless, it may be time for an upgrade. One point of frustration with the IPad.....having to re-enter my password and pull up the pp file again after leaving it to spend time online. I want a device that can go back & forth from the pp file to the net without having this issue. Are there any tablets that enable you to actually save the pp files once you've powered off?

No idea why an ipad would fail to work on brisnet. I stay away from anything crapple, but it's got to be strictly a software issue, and I'd get the latest updates if you haven't already.

Thanks. I think the first step would be to see if a BRIS tech rep can address this problem by phone. I can't imagine this Is a widespread thing with the older IPad & BRIS.

I was able to download today's Belmont card, ultimate pp's without a problem. It's a PDF file. It opened right up. But I exported it to iBooks to save it so I could use it offline. Worked great.

This IPad Pro is the original 13 inch model. Almost two years old, I think. You should be able to do the same thing I did on yours

I'm about to just get one of these since I am only going to use it at the track with me. Cheap as you can get. I don't like tablets.

I have a few Samsung tablets, I like the Bluetooth in the Samsung's that do not need to be in the Bluetooth receive file mode. As long as it is paired to what is sending the file a popup and a sound appear asking accept file from? Other tablets you must go into the setting prior to the file being sent to setup for receive Bluetooth file. If you like easy file transfers Samsung can not be beat. I DL single file format and print to PDF.

If all you need it for is PDFs you can get an inexpensive Samsung. You only need to download, not save. The files will be available in your download folder. Of course, you still have the option of creating folders and saving them just as you would in a Windows environment.
