She's much better than she was a while ago. She still isn't qualified at this level. Merely identifying horses correctly and calling out times doesn't make one a decent announcer. You need to call the event with emotion and some level of drama. She'll need many races to get there, if she ever does get there. It won't cost PARX anything because her calling won't prevent bettors from betting. And maybe that's the entire point.

The quality of a person's race calling has nothing to do with gender or race. Let's get away from excusing less competitive performance on race and gender.
It's a crutch. She should be at a lesser venue working her way up like other people do.

Let's also not act like she was a nobody before this...she was a name in the industry before the announcing gig...I'm sure that also had something to do with it.

Gotta love the handle of the tweeter. Does this mean anyone critical of track announcers is misogynist? If so, i'll be sure to pass that info on to Vic, Mike Battaglia, Richard Grunder, and John Imbriale. Should make them feel a hell of lot better.

If the sportsbook caller was Garr I think I would have recognized the voice.
Also if my memory serves me right Andrew Beyer said the calls originated in downtown Las Vegas.

Bill Garr was strictly a So. Cal guy.

He called the races from the press box at Santa Anita.

His signature call was " hand, boot and whip to the wire"

I remember driving home rooting my ass off for my front runner to please hang on!!

Looked at the chart the next day and he was 5 in front at every call except for the finish where he was SIX in front.

As for the callers and voices in Las Vegas. There were quite a few. The one I think I remember was Jay Richards.

All the calls at the race books and in the book down at Caliente were re-creations from the charts or explanations via a telephone call from the press box.
