I think a few of us can relate to this scenario
I was going to bet vs OB but feel very bad for the connections, has to be heartbreaking. Really changes the complexion of the race. I thought it would be a faster pace than I first suspected, now maybe not.

Reminds me of the bitter disappointments as regards Winter book favorite Hoist the Flag's late demise or AP Indy's......but they did right by the colt as is typical for a Mandella charge.

The surgery doesn't always work, so some become roarers. However, the tie back surgery works well on young horses if it holds tight. Generally you have to keep their food low to ground and really dry stuff like hay moistened, because they can choke more easily.
But not all horses who make breathing noises are roarers. Roarers only roar on the inhale. Other noises, i.e. on the exhale, is not roaring. Some roarers are more exercise intolerant. It all really depends. If you're in the Baffert barn I'm sure things go well for you.
