The entire Dem party has bought into white guilt. Which is why so many feel deeply obligated to refute any criticism of Obama or his policies.
And it is not limited to party members. I still remember a caller to a conservative talk show in 2008. He said that he had always voted Republican, but he was voting for Obama because he thought that we owed that to blacks.

Sarah Palin was in way over her head for the position of Vice President. Which was really pathetic, given that she was better qualified than McCain, Obama, or Biden for a job as a middle manager, let alone high elected office.
