That isn't the only definition. It also means silly behavior or mischief.

OK, use that definition. Same question.

At Woodbine, for example, the mirror is almost 6 FULL INCHES PAST THE OUTSIDE margin of the winning post

Sometimes the judges ask for a specific enlargement of the photo sent out to the crowd to insure it is clear to all, what the finish was. I often would blow up the photo very large so show how close it was, but that enlargement OFTEN was changed to a samller one.
This has absolutely zero to do with what happened today.

Sorry I missed this, would have saved me a reply.

I actually thought of that. Hopefully NYRA has a good photo finish REVIEWER too.

NYRA: (1) not having a good backup system, (2) declaring a dead heat with little explanation, and (3) not producing and providing an analysis of the video recording that they supposedly used to declare the dead heat constitutes mischief and silliness.

Did you feel the CHRB changing their story and flat out lying about the gate scratch incident in the Breeders Cup was silly?

Attached is how the images looked as close as I could get to the mirror. A dead heat was probably the right call because you can't get an image on the mirror, and even if you could you don't know if you have the angle exactly correct. The video camera angle likely doesn't match the true angle of the photo finish line, causing some distortion.

That said, I think if you had the 1 in the 3rd spot, you got the short end of the stick having to share money with those that had the 8. Watching live and seeing those stills I'm about 99% certain the 1 was third.

It’s unfortunate this happened. Like I said earlier, some fans have an unwarranted distrust of the photo equipment to begin with. This kind of accident just fuels that distrust. Fortunately this is a very rare occurrence. I hope they fix whatever the issue is quickly. We don’t need things like this happening too often.

Ca has had plenty of problems with it. Not necessarily of the Plusmic system but of the outdated computers and monitors and printers they were using. Who knows what happened here but Patrick McKenna said they're looking into it so I guess we'll find out.

I know how the CHRB came to do what it did, because I had the same reaction the stewards did watching it live. And the result was correct under the rules (though the rules should be changed on the issue of horizontal wagers- it should be an ALL race when that happens).

But on the issue of their explanations, yes, the CHRB performed very poorly. Basically the farther away you get from regular procedure, the more explanation that is owed the public. People are betting on these races, and are entitled to that.

Do people seriously believe that is what happened here?

Reading the replies to Grening's tweet is nothing but standard Internet shenanigans.
The shenanigans is the very low level of customer appreciation these knuckleheads show. They can't time race, now they can't post photos.
I call it incompetence.

Thank GOD OP and TAM are running now.
