Merry Christmas!

I read a book written by the late Tip O'Neal, the 47th speaker of the house and a democrat from Massachusetts. He talks about Friday night poker games where politicians from both parties got together and were able to put aside their differences. He said Richard Nixon was the most skilled poker player of the lot.

Just try that sort of thing in today's political environment. Maxine Waters and the squad in the same room playing cards with Phil Graham, Mitch McConnell and John Kennedy would probably never happen.

And this makes me wonder how this COVID "lifetime immunity" ever got any traction. Are all the "experts" just talking out of their ass?
Well...there is the money angle. Pfizer has reaped 28 BIL thus far and still counting...and will even make more after they buy another pharm company that has a "cure" for one of the side effects the Pfizer vax causes. How Kool is that?

Meanwhile, though, I hope your son gets well soon and you might want to consider alternative treatments such Ivermectin.

Merry Christmas:

It’s healthy to have an active social life, and to see your friends and relatives as often as possible, especially at Christmas. It’s healthy not to worry about what medical procedures others might or might not have had. It’s healthy not to worry if somebody has the sniffles, and it’s healthy to be unvaccinated. It’s healthy to show your face in public, it’s healthy to work out with other people at the gym. It’s healthy to shake hands with colleagues, it’s healthy to stand near people you’re talking to, it’s healthy to hug close friends, it’s healthy to go outside, it’s healthy to travel. It’s healthy for old people to see their grandchildren. It’s not healthy to fear the air you breathe, it’s not healthy to fear children, and it’s not healthy to hide indoors.

We’ve gone way beyond a few temporary public health measures to mitigate the impact of infections. Soon our governments will have hijacked two years of our daily existence in service of goals that every day grow more nebulous and unobtainable. We are losing our lives in the hope of saving them, and we have to show other people the way back.

Thanks for that chart on South Africa. The other good news from that chart is that while the number of cases spiked up to a high of 37,800+ in mid December, the number of deaths has stayed fairly flat. That means, for at least this variant, it is becoming much less lethal. That is good news for everyone, and let's hope it stays this way.

I thought 1000s were dying daily?????? What's going on?!
The largest hospital in our city here in Pa along with Scranton is getting federal help(medical personnel) to deal with the surge. My cousin died from Covid right before Christmas, a Vietnam veteran, he didn't last two weeks.
A lifelong friend of both my wife and I, her 44 y.o. son was hospitalized in same hospital on Oct. 20th. He was just removed from the ECMO machine a day ago, but is no longer in an induced coma. He looks to be improving. Two lung surgeries, still intubated, but responsive now. From my understanding, it's not so much as a room shortage, but a medical personnel shortage. It's worse than any time during our pandemic.
My other female cousin survived being intubated but is on oxygen basically for the rest of her life. Now she has multiple pulmonary specialists that she's seeing. Of course two of them were 70 and 71.
The city commissioner of Lebanon, Pa died the 28th. Most likely from Omicron, but the article didn't name it. So that's two recent deaths of people I know in the last couple of weeks.
They didn't say at my cousin's funeral service if it was delta or omicron. The family didn't care.

My male cousin, no.

My female cousin, not back in March, but she is now. And she spent March through August in two hospitals, two rehabs, and in an assisted living. It wasn't available when she contracted it.
My friend's son is unknown, my guess is no. And the 81-year-old commissioner is probably no, the article wouldn't disclose it, so I read that as no. He was very anti-Tom Wolf our dem governor.

I didn't mention my good friend and partner in our vacation cabin, was in the ICU with it back before vaccinations also. Then he went back into ICU with covid-related leg clots, and finally got it a 2nd time, about two months back after vaccination, but never was hospitalized that time or had to use his oxygen bottle. We gave him up for dead, as he's the worst candidate,70 y.o., 150 lbs. overweight, diabetes, breathing problems for decades, four heart stents, almost died with leg clots in 2019, and he's still kicking. One tough SOB, another Vietnam veteran. He told us, you don't want this, it's the worst thing he's ever had, said it tried to kill him twice.

I have always gotten a "hoot" out of reading old medical textbooks which are a PRIME example that knoweldge BUILDS upon knowlege to get closer to the truth in diagnosis and treatment of disease processes.

When the AIDS epidemic was in full swing, we got varying cautionary tales about interacting with infected individuals, at first gowing and gloving, while two years later, that precaution was dropped once the mode of infection was established.

Like I said WAY BACK when this epidemic started: YOU CAN ONLY Discuss (rationally and factually) ONCE THE EPIDEMIC has passed as it continues to EVOLVE, much faster than the standard information about it can progress. That is the way of science and disease, ALWAYS has been

Kinda like with vaccines, too, right? Once the jabs develop a real track record...over a long period of time -- like 75 years or so?
