McDavid will be fine.
With the exception of Kadri, every team in the league has keyed on him and he's been successful.
The attitude that he displays in those words above should be adopted by all of the young Leafs too. Playing frozen or in awe doesn't work.

Ken Hitchcock is returning to the city where he won his first and only Stanley Cup as he'll take over head coaching duties of the Dallas Stars next season.
The veteran bench boss takes over for a Dallas squad which finished second-last in the Central Division with a 34-37-11 record. They allowed the second most goals-against per game with 3.2 and netted just 2.7 goals per game on offence in the 2016-17 season.
Vegas have the luxury of picking from a deep pool of coach’s with all the recent firings, they might want to jump on one before the pool is thinned out.

Ken Hitchcock has a good hockey mind.
He was too good to be left on the sidelines very long.
There's no doubt that he can develop winners.
As a fan though, I find the defensive style of play that he prefers, somewhat tedious to watch. But he can get positive results.

Our hockey pool, my entry.
East West
8. CBJ CHI
7. NYR CAL
6. PITT SJ
5. WASH ( grr) EDM
4. TOR ANA
3. MONT MINN
2. BOS STL
1. OTT NASH
Every time my 8 point team wins I get 8 points. And so on down the line. It's weird this year. I play mostly with Red Wing fans who had no clue their team had been the walking dead the past ten years and always overrated them. I've won this pool three times in eleven years. With the Leafs actually in it, maybe I'm the guy walking dead this year...lol. They usually overrated the Caps too. Bring on the playoffs!!!!!!!

The Vegas Golden Knights have named Gerard Gallant their first-ever head coach.
Toronto West blew it last night, they came out of the gate like gangbusters with a quick two goals while playing an effective heavy game, only to get outshot 34-9 the rest of the way by San Jose and blow it in overtime....... sound like someone we know?
Nobody cycles the puck better than the Sharks, and Edmonton needs to use their speed and cut off the cycle early, if you let them set-up you are doomed.... easier said than done.
The Sharks can’t play a speed game, that was evident in the finals last season against the Pens, they play a slow and heavy cycle game in all 3 zones. The Oilers need to keep the pace high, and not allow the Sharks to gain any momentum, as well as playing a better disciplined game, taking 7 penalties in a game will not cut it in the playoffs.
I have to give the fans in Edmonton some props, that’s how a building is supposed to sound during a playoff game, that place was jumping last night.

Toronto vs Washington..... It’s game day!
The Maple Leafs probably don’t have the defence to hold off the Capitals, but Toronto’s young guns can score and are always entertaining to watch. The young Leafs have absolutely no pressure since their season is already a success just by making the playoffs. That could be scary for a Washington team that already knows how to lose in the playoffs.

Toronto played a great game.
Bad final goal. Ouch.
Those kids didn't get "rinsed."
A great experience for them in a hostile rink!

Tough loss. Learning future lessons is fine. I wanted to win that damn game. It was there for the taking. Onward and upward.

"Woe Canada...Our home and native game...
All 5 Canadian teams lost game #1.
Historically, the team that wins game #1 of a 7 game NHL series has gone on to win 68.5% of the series.
That % rises to 86.4 if a team wins the first two games.
