Why, because horses are more likely to tire with faster fractions, or in this particular race scenario?
I don't think he looks bad, and like his pedigree. He looked good closing, it was just the times that concerned me.

He is not the only closer.

I have advanced PPs and I do not see any other bonafide closer. And I hope he doesn't say it's Ride On Curlin - closing from far back two out of the ten races he was in (and one was the heavy volume Kentucky Derby) does not make him a closer.
And I will admit one middle-runner I missed: Ria Antonia.

Can you really call it "closing" if the horses in front of you are slowing down that badly? In the race at Pimlico he was able to move into striking distance down the back stretch with little effort.
Social Inclusion and CC are going to be 20 lengths ahead of Kid Cruz. I just don't see any way they let him back in the race if he lays back, and I see no way he can run close enough to horses of this class and have anything left.

While you may not want him to say ROC, the fact of the matter is, the only way this horse wins is by returning this running style. If I know this, I'm certain the trainer and jockey do. Plenty of speed has drawn in, he draws the far outside, he runs anywhere near the pace and he'll be going backwards in the stretch. He's never been an impressive closer, but him and Antonia will be knocking off those who have tuckered themselves out in the early part of the race.

I think Dynamic Impact is a middle-pack runner in this field.

I would not recommend tossing Ring Weekend out.
This horse has talent.
His TB Derby was very impressive.
He smoked that field with ease.
In the Calder race I doubt trainer GM had him cranked up, and RW took a very uncomfortable trip from the jump.
I think he runs a good race Saturday.
Second or third sounds about right.

Then why is Borel off for this race? The connections did not want that type of race in the Derby and instructed so, but Borel ran his own race.

He's lost ground in the stretch in every race he ran in.

Ride on Curlins best career race is clear his Champagne at 2. Check where he came from that day.
Linda Rice has a nice horse, a horse who is simply not good enough. He should be 50-1 to win this race, instead people are talking about 12 star locks of century. It seems sloppy to me. Quick scan of the pps and boom he is the only closer. Not the case at all.

I totally agree and he will rate and has rated and won. I think he has a shot.
