I split my time between Lubbock and Palm Springs. My ex lives on a houseboat on lake Travis, though. Going for a visit in November.

I bought a boat from Lake Travis last year and had it hauled out here to California. It was a sort of desperation move to make California more palatable for a few more years

LA Times reports the latest poll has Newsome easily defeating the recall 60-40. Wonder what happened? A couple weeks ago it was real close, he had a 2 point lead. Did mailing everybody a ballot and the envelopes with holes in them convince the masses the recall was rigged?

They gin up a little fear that the blue man might lose, in order to get the lazy asses to mail in a ballot checked "D"
Almost everything in this world is an act of manipulation these days.
Basically, everything is rigged.

California getting a hard reset would be the best thing for every Californian.
Just like a hard reset would be the best thing for every New Yorker.
It is more likely that they are doomed.

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.

As someone born there in 1961 who did not escape till 2010, living exclusively in SoCal in every topography imaginable, big city, mountains, beach, desert. I watched the whole place go downhill, gang graffiti stretching out in the middle of nowhere, roads getting further and further in disrepair, commute times increasing by the year, vacant land used as landfills and toxic waste dumps, etc, etc. All this happening while taxes and fees increased by the year. They also legalized a state lotto in the mid 80's of which 50% of the proceeds were to fix the school system. The politicians take more and more money with less and less to show for it.
The only plus for the state is silicon valley, I do not understand why the state has not split into 2 or 3 states. SoCal is evolving into a 3rd world country pile of crap. NoCal is a different place all together.

KLOS 95.5?
I listened to that station in High School. The longevity of some SoCal radio stations under the same format definitely contrasts to those in Central Virginia where I live.

KLOS what a flashback, was more of a KROQ fan but those stations and the format held strong for a very long time.
*edit* Unfortunately I am still in So Cal since 64, fortunate to live at the beach and the weather is about the only good thing left along with proximity to virtually any outdoor activity you prefer. My daughter is what keeps me here along with siblings.

You are correct. NorCal is a completely different place. I have relocated to Sacramento years ago. Running projects around the Bay area. Everyone I have had the pleasure to work with, is upstanding people. Strong conservative values. One hell of a lot of money being spent on commercial developments that have a connection to the Silicon Valley. Sacramento is booming once Amazon has occupied a few million square feet of property. Great place, great people.
