Well,

It is odd that the horses that came out of the Wood wirh a questionable, and slow figure on the Beyer scale i.e. a 96 that didn't seem to correlate to the filly race on the card whatsoever. Have won two of the big three triple crown races.

Now, in the Belmont, we have a similar situation where there are abnormally slow horses or pace that suggests that Mo is no speed ball.

He just keeps showing up and winning.

When is going to get some Beyer respect?

I know they have a case, but still.

Throw the Detby out that was a complete race breakdown.

The Belmont 98 is genuine. It fits with all the other race on dirt.
The Brooklyn 95 is a joke.

I agree with this.

Each horse clearly has a different amount of natural speed even when they are of a similar class. The amount of energy used is not just related to how fast the horse ran. It's also a function of how close to its limit it was running. There seems to be a kind of exponentially growing energy use the closer you get to the horse's limit.

You see it a lot of times in a duel.

Two horses duel in fractions are are clearly fast relative to class. The winner of the duel will often go on to record a final time figure equal or at least close to its typical performance despite running very fast early. The loser will sometimes get totally buried. It's a matter of how comfortable the horse was while running fast.

I have no idea if something like that was a factor in the Brooklyn.

I think we had a thread a while ago where it was mentioned that an odd fraction/segment in a race can distort the performances of a lot of horses.

Can I please add the words "for now" to your last sentence and be a starry-eyed dreamer?
