But did they ever do that as guests of the White House press staff?
You see...if you are a reporter and you're interviewing me on your turf or in the street or whatever and you want to get up all in my grill (for whatever reason), that's one thing. But if you do that when you're under my roof, that's something else. I'm probably going to ask you to get out of my house.
Plus in either case there is the thing about disrespect for the Office.

WOW - who knew you had a "RIGHT" to attend a White House press conference. Next time I'm in DC, I'm going to attend.

This errant decision may lead to the cancellation of all Press Conferences, except in absolutely urgent and emergent instances.
The judge has made a mistake.

That is a sad truth. There is nothing in the Constitution that states that a Potus ever has to conduct a Press conference of any kind.

Yeah...then what happens to everyone's right to badger the president?
Maybe CNN will sue the WH for shutting the press conference spigot off to all reporters. What would that do to their right to access the president?
After all...there is Twitter.

So no one actually read what grounds this was done on...?
Not surprising.
It was done using the 5th Amendment argument. It's pretty easy to write some rules and move on.
But hey... no press conferences ever sounds nice too.
You guys are a trip.

This ruling will be challenged and it wouldn't surprise me to see the White House ignore the ruling.

Why would they challenge it?
Right some rules down on a piece of paper and give them to the Press Corps and you're done...

That’s the way I read it.
In fact, following the courts ruling would be so easy that a smart White House could set a precedent so strong it could shut down anyone they want in the future.

It was definitely a hedge ruling...
The WH will write some rules and probably just try and move on.

That is what I have seen in the past by Trump ... people attack him and he clams up and walks away
