Empire Way

Empire Way at Hollywood Park today won the 4th race,at no point of the race was this horse urged. He ran on his own,Rosario was along for the ride, the winning margin a HALF LENGTH.Left some in the tank,Harrinton has the goods in this horse but i have a feeling he wont be in his barn for long.

Unless an absolutely ridiculous sum is offered, I think he'll hang on to him. The whole point of Harrington and his owner dipping into the Kentucky gene pool was to develop a replacement for the aging CA stallion Swiss Yodeler.

As both Empire Way and Creative Cause have 7-figure pedigrees, and both appear to be able to run a little, the connections seem to have come upon their future stallion prospects quickly. Since a good racing career doesn't necessarily guarantee a good stallion career, I would guess that they don't want to put all their eggs in one basket. In that regard, I doubt they're too eager to part with either colt.

i gotta say.. i'm not really that impressed. I mean, let me put it in perspective. this is the 2nd forum i have looked at today that has mentioned this horse specifically and i just looked at the video (yesterday start my forced 3 week break from horse racing i take every year) and I expected a conveyance 2YO or a the factor 3YO esque performance.

I mean he looks good and he will run on no doubt but I mean, i can tell you now i'm going all in on him against the what 3/5 you will get from him next out in what the robert b. lewis stakes?

Why would you want a possible Derby prospect to look like an out-and-out sprinter when breaking its maiden?

yeah i suppose me naming off 2 sprinters would give the impression that was what i was looking for. I just used 2 horses name s off the top of my head that happened to be sprinters, not saying i was expecting that type of performance, i just was not impressed by what i saw.

seems okay, but not earth shattering yet

in a 5 horse field, all the top 4 were between 2 and 5/2 in odds
so I think just as good a chance that one of the other 3

(Holy Candy, Unmarked Bills, Take No Prisoners)

will do best next year

I dont think he was asked to do anything the whole race. Granted it was just a 5 horse field but i think the 2-4 and 1 all have bright futures ahead of them coming out of that race. ONly thing that bothers me are the front wraps he has on?

Seemed like a very polished ride for a 2yr old. Settled in, a little dirt in face, easy wide move with little urging down the lane. They probably couldn't have laid it out better. Harrington enters two, the race fills, small field and no traffic trouble. It certainly was a "who's who" of trainers behind him, Sadler, Mandella and Baffert.

Time was a little slow but track was dull. It will be interesting to see the Beyer in light of prior race with Wall Street Wonder running 2 seconds faster.

I tend to agree he'd be a bet against as a result of the sure to be hype. Seems like Heinz and Mike have an exciting upcoming 6 months with this one and Creative Cause.

Empire Way being considered for the upcoming Grade 1 Futurity.

Interesting, previous futurity winners include A P Indy, Lookin At Lucky plus five Derby winners.
