He was, in a kangaroo court style action.

No evident... No defense allowed.

But lets go back a bit further to 1779 William Blount Impeached July 7, 1797, on charges of conspiring to assist in Great Britain’s attempt to seize Spanish-controlled territories in modern-day Florida and Louisiana.

December 17, 1798–January 14, 1799 Charges dismissed for want of jurisdiction; Blount had been expelled from the U.S. Senate before his trial.

Now there was no need to guess what the framers of the Constriction meant or intent was... cause some were there at the hearing in the Senate. And they stated jurisdiction.

Mitch McConnell is on the horns of a dilemma...

Interesting article, albeit with some hyperbole and a few biased lies sprinkled in (not unexpected).

The New Yorker

Why McConnell Dumped Trump

Quote:
After the Capitol assault—and after losing his perch as Majority Leader—the senator finally denounced the outgoing President. Was it a moral reckoning or yet another act of political self-interest?
Quote:
...given Trump’s continuing popularity among Republicans, many people in Washington were surprised that McConnell—who is by far the most powerful, and often the most inscrutable, member of the Party in Congress—was willing to openly revolt against him. But John Yarmuth, a Democratic representative from Louisville, Kentucky, who has known McConnell since the late sixties, told me he’d long predicted that the alliance between Trump and McConnell would end once the President could no longer help McConnell. “Three years ago, I said he’d wait until Trump was an existential threat to the Party, and then cut him loose,” Yarmuth said.

All the time and energy spent trying to take out Trump over the past 4 years. Having two impeachments on his record to any sane person would be about normal.
Trump made fools out of the left for 4 years, they'll never take that victory away from him.

not just the left, but also many in the swamp

Trump's problem was the swamp is so deep, it was hard to find people to fill key positions that were not in the swamp

Other than cast doubt for millions on the safety of them, due his big fat know-nothing basement mouth ranting.

Biden lied, people died.

Some may believe Trump losing was worth the real-time Comedy Central we're experiencing.
Had Trump won or the election overturned the country would be ablaze anyway.
