The Remsen was a shitshow in the stretch between him and Dornach. I still can't get that out of my mind, and is the main reason until I see them look better, I won't play them. I can't remember a year we've had so many green horses get enough points to enter the derby.

You are right Class. Sierra Leone has shown a propensity for doing just that this early in his racing career. Hopefully, in the weeks coming up to the race his connections can work on ironing that out a little bit.

According to an article on DRF, Beyer is upgrading the Risen Star 5 points due to the fact that 5 of the horses have came back to run 5 points faster then their figure in that race. It was a sloppy racetrack with a deteriorating surface that made if difficult to make figures. Three of the top five finishers came back to win stakes.

I'll be looking for a horse that's already a professional and getting odds on him. Fierceness has issues and so does Leone. No way I bet a favorite in 1 1/4 mile race that isn't quite a racehorse yet.

Upgrading that race was kind of obvious before the Bluegrass and Wood. It was a strong prep race, at least by this year's standards.

Point well taken Bisket. I am just hoping that Fierceness with the tremendous figure he recently achieved gets way over bet and there exists some sort of decent value on Sierra Leone as a result. Sierra Leone has already shown that he isn't uncomfortable taking dirt. S.L. will be coming from well off the pace, but, damn if he doesn't possess that Big Ground Gobbling type of stride that simply eats up the ground at the later stages in the race. I believe that Fierceness will have to have an excellent setup and a tremendous amount of good fortune to run anywhere nearly as close to the huge Fig that he put up in the FL Derby. That is my hope anyway. We will have to wait and see how it all pans out. It is going to be exciting!!
