Turf Paradise, race 6.
I've been watching and betting on races for over 40 years, and this is the first time I ever saw a horse get disqualified because another horse was spooked by it and caused interference to a horse that was already in fourth and rapidly losing ground. There was no contact. The horse next to it shied and bore in sharply, something it's done in the past. The stewards must not like trainer Molly Pearson.

After viewing the replays again, it appears that #1 did brush slightly against the head of #7 in the stretch, which caused #7 to veer in sharply and impede $8 and #5. I don't think it warranted a disqualification, since it doesn't appear to have affected the results, but Arizona does what it pleases. It might have warranted disciplinary action against the jockey for failing to keep the horse on a straight path.

Gulfstream race 2: Edgard Zayas, after thousands of rides, still hasn't learned how to switch hands with the whip. Zayas's horse came out near the second place finisher and struck the horse on the nose with the whip, causing it to shy and possibly (not certainly, as the second horse had peaked on its run) costing it a win. It took the stewards less than 3 minutes to correctly decide to disqualify the winner. The announcer didn't list the correct reason for the disqualification, which isn't surprising.

That's what the announcer said. What I saw was the horse being struck on the nose with the whip or at least being intimidated by it. In any case, the DQ was deserved.

IMO the 11 came in about three paths and deserved to be taken down.

Frivolous claim of foul by John Velazquez in the Oaks.
They should fine HIM for wasting everyone's time with that bs.

www.calracing.com Race 8 Sunday between #1 and #6. In Ca they have been calling extreme herding like this a DQ until Sunday.

Please only take this poll if a) you watched the head-on of Sunday's 8th race @santaanitapark; and b) feel you can be objective whether you bet the race or not:
10%The non-call was correct
90%Winner should've been DQ

Surprised this wasn't burning up the message boards 2 minutes after the race went official, a baffling call by SA stewards. I had the winner singled in bets, saw the head-on & essentially turned off the TV & walked away.
