I am trying not to be partisan with this article. We are not getting along very well.

The article offers lots of food for thought without discussing why that gap is happening.
In concrete terms that divisiveness really makes getting agreement on legislation through Congress.
Also, visitors to this site can see the "hardening of trenches" in trying to discuss virtually any political subject in a civil manner.

On a sports forum I no longer go to that had lots of off topic a lot of members got their knowledge of guns, ballistics and police procedures from television shows and movies. The average member was 25 and very liberal. You would not believe how many people believed it was easy to shoot guns out of people's hands and hit people in the knee caps. Many of them thought swat teams were unnecessary militarization of police. They must have got that idea from watching Chuck Norris charge into a vacant warehouse alone going after 3 guys with fully automatic weapons with nothing but one 9mm pistol with a 7 round clip.

This country is at a cross roads as to its identity. Progressives thought they had won the war with the election of Obama and where all set to, as Obama put it "fundamentally transform this country", Trumps election put an end to their progress and they are mad as hell. This will go on and on. The two sides will not get along.

This is actually old news. I have perceived this kind of political environment for decades. Seriously. I can't believe people are this slow on the uptake. Is it getting worse? Yes, it is. But it has been on the works for many years.

They will eventually "get along" because the Republicans have no spine, no smarts and no principles. So...in the future, they will "go along to get along."
