Is Tiger Woods done?
Tiger withdrew again at the Dubai Desert Classic. Is he done for good without any more wins?

Totally irrelevant now...
I used to love watching him play...
Now, he plays like an amateur...
I think he should hang it up...
Me personally, I don't give a hoot any longer...
Right of passage..

Its a game of, how many years can the media beat a dead horse? He's been done for a while now. Its like the magic word or carat stick for golf and the ratings. "If we say Tiger woods, people watch and listen whether he plays or not." Even when he does, he might as well of stayed home. He may win some minor tournaments but he's probably done in the major ones.
I swear, no other sport could get away with this, if you can't perform in a matter of months, you are pretty much out. They've been milking this cow for years now.
Time is undefeated, when an athlete is done they are done. People seem to think these people are not mortals and its a case of heavy non acknowledgement. "oh wait til next month, hell be back." Like doing what they do is like walking around the block.

Tiger Woods is the greatest player of my lifetime. And that is coming from a childhood Jack Nicklaus fan.
I'll watch Tiger shoot an 80, as it is more entertaining to me than the other 120+ players on the tour right now regardless of what they shoot.

I still think Jack was the greatest golfer ever. Tiger during his run was the most dominant. His body gave out on him. What used to be his greatest strength was his mind. Now it seems to be a major flaw. With his body giving out and being a mental midget now on the course. Yeah he's done. Hope he proves me wrong.

Tiger's biggest problem was the sex scandal.
He went from being the overbearing crowd favorite in every tournament he entered, and then overnight he turned into the dreaded enemy of everybody.
In a 1 man sport, that is tough to take from a mental perspective. I can't even imaging going from being adored and cheered relentlessly by everybody, to being the guy that steps on every tee with shouts from the crowd in a cursive and negative nature.
Confidence is everything in golf; and that completely shattered him. The physical issues were going to happen due to how he swung and played golf, the mental side, however, has been more of a problem IMO.

From a statistical analysis Tiger's record compared to Jack's is better except for the majors. At 41 Jack had won 70 times out of 386 tournaments (18%) while Tiger has won 79 times out of 315 tournaments (25%). Jack had 17 majors to Tiger's 14.
Jack went on to play 200 more tournaments while winning 3 more times capped off by the incredible 1986 Masters.
If Tiger is physically able to play 200 more tournaments, I would bet that he will win at least 3 times.

You have to give props to Nicklaus and Palmer for being on top for so long. If time frame was irrelevant, I would put Johnny Miller up there -- the shortest reigning greatest player every.

Definitely.
Palmer will always be the King, and Nicklaus is....well, Nicklaus.
On the flip side, golf has exploded incredibly in talent since the mid-80s. Not in just America, but more importantly on an international level. There are so many more great players outside of the states than we ever saw before the mid-80s.
Did Palmer or Nicklaus ever face a Faldo, or a Norman, or a Sergio, or a McIlroy, or an Els, or a Day, or a Stenson, or a Scott, or a Matsuyama, or a Rose?
The fields are so much deeper and better than they have ever been. Nicklaus and Palmer never faced the type of players and talent that we see today, or that Tiger faced in his heydey.

He personally has stated his best games are in the past. Will only play with old men.
