Remember that Mitch McConnell publicly advised Drumph against putting Kavanaugh's name forward.
I'm not sure how much McConnell knew at that point, but it must have been something significant.

The bottom line here is that there are no witnesses who have confirmed Christine's Blasey Fords accusations.Not one.
All four of the named witnesses at the party are now on record denying the assault allegations and ALL FOUR witnesses and her friends have denied the party ever took place! What more do you need here.

No matter who Trump would've sent out as the nominee, the Dems were going to resist that individual with whatever means necessary, just as they're doing now.....Maybe Kavanaugh was just a sacrificial lamb from the start, as maybe Trump knew the inside skinny as well.
