Belmont Crowd
It looks empty there, no? I know there’s no triple crown, but usually there’s still a pretty good crowd on Belmont day

Personally I can only put up with five hours of a large crowd. If I were going, I'd be arriving in about a half hour.

Looks like the crowd is starting to come in with the apron shot I just saw of the Jaipur post parade...

Sounds like a lot of people not interested in the under card. They just want to see, or be able to say they saw, the Belmont.

Whenever I attended the Stakes, there would always be people streaming into the track midway through the card and into the later races...yes there is a sizable faction that only shows up for the marquee event...

To be fair, it is essentially a nine hour long event.

It's only two hours on NBC, and you can tune out most of that as hot air. The company is better here, and the beer is a lot cheaper.

Didn't they shrink the public areas at Belmont as part of the construction of the new arena? I think I heard the official maximum capacity of Belmont is down to 50,000, at least until they do planned renovations.
EDIT: i found the story on this:

And it started before McDonads breakfast was over.
Too many races.
Would have made three nice racing days, maybe four, starting with the MET OM MEMORIAL DAY WHERE IT BELONGS.

I am sure NYRA (and other tracks) have run the numbers and they make more money this way.

NBC doesn’t help. Should not be an hour between races.

Looked like around 35k to me. Did the weather forecast keep the attendance down?
