Drop in the Dollar... Haven't seen any news as to root cause (but I do see the Euro rallied vs. the Dollar.)

DOW up 700+ points...and VIX is actually UP at the moment...whhaaaaaattttt??
Wonder if the market is going to pull back noticeably at 3:50...only a few minutes away
That's when the last bulk of MOC orders gets revealed, if I recall correctly

Posted in the RTY thread that this market smells VERY WEAK to me right now...we should be looking at a big down day today if I'm right.

Right now as I type this (09:09 Eastern) S&P Futures +28 disconnected from BBDXY (Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index) +6.
Unusual.
Based on what I've seen over the past few months DXY up normally results in SPX down - usually within a few minutes.
But not the last 30 minutes leading up to today's market open.

a better currency to focus on would be the Yen. Yen down, markets down along with gold.
this won't last forever though.

So I was wrong...market didn't go down...
In fact, despite the markets going UP today...the VIX again went UP slightly...that's the second trading day in a row the markets were UP (and they were UP BIG on Friday), and the VIX went UP.
Somebody who's been doing this longer then me, what does that mean? It has to mean something, right?

Seems to be following the exact same pattern as the last earnings season. Earnings aren't a total sh*t show and so the market is using it as an excuse to rally. Once earnings wrap up and the fed reality checks on November 2 the rally will end.
