Why, coupled with the budgets motion pictures have and advancements in special effects would there EVER be a need to use a real weapon?

Someone wanna try and answer this?

Very simple, it is the easiest way to go. Just need people who have brains to follow rules and protocols.

Alec Baldwin is a complete jerk. And although the prospect of manslaughter charges sounds unjust-regardless of his status as some sort of "co-producer" on the set-he is a very hard guy to root for.

And that has zero to do with his politics or Trump impersonations. Just a thoroughly detestable dude.

When you first pick up a gun check to see if it is loaded, never point it at anything you don't intend to shoot. I grew up around cops, I was taught that and fired my first real gun at 7.

What do you mean the charge is unjust... lets remove the "prop" from this situation. In any other circumstances if a person was handed a gun and told it was "cold" and that person point and pulled the trigger and killed someone. The prosecuting attorney would be stating rightfully so that you failed to confirm that and your willful negligence resulted in someones death. Guilty as charged.... but some how add the chaos of a movie production and toss in "prop" that somehow removes all personal responsibility in gun safety. Nah that should compound the double checking Also a cold gun is clear nothing but air in the chamber... something he could of confirmed in a second or two. Dumby rounds... no primers seated..what 5 to 10 seconds. Blanks in under 30 seconds to check for crimped casings and weed out live rounds.
There are no accidents with guns... only negligence. Either willful or ingonrence but negligence all the same.

He was pointing at the camera, rehearsing a close up shot.

The director n cinematographer were sitting in close next to the camera

Ignore the context and circumstances? No, let's not. Because no DA, judge or defense team will.

He should follow whatever diet she is on...he really lets himself go at times...lol

Like I said before... with the chaos of a set environment the lack of basic GUN safty by Baldwin caused this... in the end a simple inspection by him would of immediately prevented this... but hey he took their word on it and it was make believe fanticy and beyond that the GUN was labeled a prop. Props don't kill... negligent people do. This would of... hell this never happened with John Wayne... Audie Murphy or Clint Eastwood. Why cause they owned guns... not props.
