For years now, the NJ Racing Commission has been bending over for Greenwood and allowing them to operate their annual mini meet for less than the required minimum number of days, which in turn allowed them to offer simulcasting year round.

Their license to operate Vineland should be voided.

Greenwood is "mud" to me....Yeah, Brennan( developer of the new GSP) was a jerk, but that was a fine racing facility. It was clean and well run. GSP also offered NJ horsemen a place to race and more or less gave NJ Barns a circuit.
IMO,Garden State should still be operating today, but Greenwood killed it. I believe this was done purposely to make room for their Phila Park ( Now Parx) track..
I really liked the place. Even though it was a 1.5 to 2 hr drive from my former Bergen County home, I made the trip several times during the Thoroughbred and harness meets.

Ever go to that seafood buffet up in the Phoenix room? As good as it got

Ps. I didn't eat seafood but gave me an excuse to go there as it was a rare treat!!!!

Also I remember my first time at GSP, vividly remember getting there and watching the end of the Denver Jacksonville playoff upset ill never forget it

Nah. I was strictly a grandstand apron guy back then. But I used to walk around, checking out the facility. It was a very nice place.

Spent more nights than I could count at GS, especially after I got stationed at McGuire AFB.

BTW, should Grteenwood retain ACRC and shutter the track, it is my hope the powers that be in NJ stick to the letter of the law and rescind Greenwood's license to operate the OTW facility in Vineland.

A rare insight into what has happened to racing across the country, not only in NJ.

Used to love the rare GSP trip from northern nj

My best friend who used to paddock horses had this horse armored truck and we would go there on Saturday nights, I remember GSP harness would race till like 1230am and the drive home was brutal

Currier and Ives dining room and thier version of the terraces dining room just want to share 2 funny garden state stories...

They used to have a seafood buffet up in the Phoenix dining room well one night as were all in suits and ties my friend got paid $20 to take as much shrimp as he could out of the track that night we'll walking out of the Phoenix room and this big bag just falls from underneath my friends jacket and 2 guards just stare at him lolololol you had to see the look on his face I just stared out the window towards the philly skyline

Then there was another night were sitting in terraces at GSP the harness meet is having there biggest night it's the governers cup and John Campbell is driving I think the favorite well to make a long story short he wins but there's a inquiry and he is flashing, some guy in a crowded dining rooms screams out "they will never take Jesus Christ down" everybody just started cracking up and low abs behold be never came down

I used to like the Announcer at Garden State Harness. When two horses were going head to head for a while, he'd say something like, "It's not a battle. It's a waaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrr,!!!"
