TVG-TrackNet dispute could affect bettors!
http://www.drf.com/news/article/109676.html
Excerpt:
Television Games Network and a simulcasting partnership that controls the rights to all the tracks owned by Magna Entertainment and Churchill Downs Inc. have failed to settle a lawsuit TVG filed against the partnership, a situation that threatens the availability on TVG of popular tracks like Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park.
The lawsuit alleges that an account-wagering company owned by Magna is infringing on a patent held by TVG, and it implies that all account-wagering companies are infringing on that patent as long as they take bets over the internet. As part of an agreement reached earlier this year between the two companies that allows TVG to offer wagering on the Magna and Churchill tracks, the lawsuit has to be settled by Dec. 25 or the agreement will expire.

If only TVG and TrackNet would expire.

Neat. And Betfair was going to save us all! Never believed it then and this is proof of what they are really about.

Right on Tom,there are some bookies now that will take all the action they can get. Buy you a drink win or lose. For those who need it credit, the only problem if you don't pay is you get a visit from the ball breaker. But just the same I still use them with no problems.

Excerpt:
Scott Daruty, the chief executive of TrackNet, said that discussions between the two sides had taken place recently, but he also said that he was "not optimistic" that a deal would be reached prior to Santa Anita's opening. TrackNet has been attempting to get simulcast sites to pay a higher fee for simulcast signals, but the Mid-Atlantic Cooperative, for one, has balked at any rate hikes.
"It does not appear that they are going to accept our proposal," Daruty said. "They've refused to pay any increase at all and they are sticking to their position."
Martin Lieberman, the executive director of the cooperative, did not immediately return phone calls on Wednesday.

Questions for someone/HANA to ask Daruty next time they talk to him.
1. Will Tracknet tracks agree to pay the same rate to Mid-Atlantic tracks for their signals that they want them to pay for Tracknet signals?
After he answers NO......
2. How is that fair?
3. Many of the Tracknet tracks don't take any (SA,GG,etc), or only take a few of the Mid-Atlantic signals so.......Why do you expect tracks to pay more for your signal when money is only going "one-way" which is against the basic fairness of "track to track" simulcasting agreements?

A manager at the local philly park turf club told me in addition to a 15% to 20% increase to receive Tracknet signals they want another 20% from Philadelphia Park to receive their signal. Talk about fair! This is probably going to go on for a long time until Tracknet comes to their senses.

Does this mean TVG will broadcast Santa Anita's races live on their network?

Hi all,
Although I have HRTV and TVG on my local cable system, I prefer to watch the SoCal races on calracing.com. You get the live feed and don't have to sit there watching them sell their selections.
Enjoy opening day at Santa Anita.
Twinspires.com also has great video and comes in handy.
I am not associated with either company...just to be clear.
