more "drone concerns"

I mentioned that using drones in an unauthorized fashion is a mistake. Drones will be available to just about every enemy of ours within 10 yrs via purchase or manufactured means.

Now it looks like that day is much closer.

http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/...searchers-say/

“Spoofing a GPS receiver on a UAV is just another way of hijacking a plane,” Humphreys told Fox News.
In other words, with the right equipment, anyone can take control of a GPS-guided drone and make it do anything they want it to......

Humphreys says the implications are very serious. “In 5 or 10 years you have 30,000 drones in the airspace,” he told Fox News. “Each one of these could be a potential missile used against us.”

or the "next 9-11 opportunity" thread

Using these things w/o UN approval was outright stupidity.

these drones have been around along time. Hitler had the low tech version in WWII. The USA has satelites that do a better job, (JMHO). Uncle Sam is great but in this area I think we are not alone, and haven't been for years.

Is there anybody here that hasn't seen a toilet mechanism turned into a bomb? I suppose we could all build an outhouse and be safer. But I will take my chances.

It is all about who is using it and intent. I am sure who ever built ours knows how to detect them, ( or they should).

If you want to worry, worry about our POTUS and the other leaders.

There are days I wonder if the world leders are people who don't know how to get laid. Think about it. That would make me cranky!

And here I thought you would be happy Obama has kept us safe all these years.

in all honesty i would rather the POTUS get international approval before utilizing drones the way we currently are. What goes around, comes around

not where our defense is concerned. if they don't like it then they can capitulate or accept the consequences. why should any country limit their arsenal?

after 911 nothing is sacred. Do you really think approval from any group anywhere is going to impact an enemy?

UN approval? Really?

LOL - Like we would ever get the UN to approve anything that we have that others don't.

Here's an interesting story from Wired Magazine about drones:

http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/06/ff_drones

Anyone can build one of these things now.

I got something similar for a neighborhood kid. We went out and flewed it. Crashed into a neighbors roof, knocked out his cable. We couldn't find it so the guy who's cable we knocked out brought his binoculars out so we could look in a tree. The kid I was with axed to see the binoculars. Pricey, they were. Kid dropped said binoc's, broke both lenses.

That neighbor hasn't spoken to me since.

This is JUST THE start...a couple of city's/county's have ALREADY started USING them for JUST survellience (mind you) on HOME soil...

Remember Bush signed THE document allowing THE military to BE USED on home soil...Obama...of course...did NOT give up THAT power...neither will ANY future Potus...

So Big brother BEGINS...1984...as PREDICTED by MANY different cultures and beliefs...
