a couple years before 9/11 I had job at Hartsfield airport in Atlanta, working for "Airtran" (formerly the infamous ValueJet, eventually acquired by Southwest).
If we were running late and used the front main passenger entrance rather than the employee bus 'ramp' entrance, we could just bypass the security screening by 'looking busy' and confidently walking around it.
I had a blue work shirt on, and an ID 'badge' around my arm, but I can't see that being part of the culture post-9/11.
