This was going around among my fellow rest franchisee types yesterday.

For that price you can eat at my place -all you can eat including steak-shrimp etc

150 items on our menu most of the time

During our early bird 1-3p you can do it minus the steak for half that price. As a senior it’s under $10

I can make a way better burger than fast food for less than 4 dollars.

Why pay those prices?

Which raises the question: How come you can and they can’t?

Price gouging.

Where was that Five Guys located? NY?

Big difference in prices from NY to TX in many cases.

That’s part of it. But I’d bet you ain’t paying $19 for a hamburger at GC in New York.

There was a guy on television complaining about his last McDonalds bill - $17 for a large shake and 2 large fries.

I think McDonald's prices vary quite a bit by location. The prices here are way less than some I have seen claimed in other states. No idea the percentage of pricing that is tied to labor, state minimum wage is $12 here. Looks like 18 states have a higher minimum than we do.

The GC in lufkin charges $12.98 at lunch time. Since the owner died last summer it's really gone downhill as has his other buffet, which is independent.

Brookshire Brothers offers a burger/ fries/ drink deal for $7.50. Every day.

Ive had 5guys in dallas, it doesn't match up to Butcher's Boy in nacogdoches in terms of quality.. 1/3 lb burger , fries, drink for <$10
