Oaklawn opening day 1-22 Playalong Thread
Come on in, the Coronas are cold and one of my favorite tracks is starting up!!
Even with the scratches the fields look full and competitive.

RACE 1
Race 1
You know Mojica is going to hustle the Ravens Reflection outta there but can he last 6? Surely the will be right there and pressing him upfront a little.
What's Diodoro doing with the Galactica in here. Keeping him in a protected race 2 off the claim and a poor 5k claiming run? If he runs back to his early 2020 races he can win this easily. And that was a claim off a 5% trainer to boot.
using over the in exotics

RACE 2
No good there!
R2 looks competitive. 10k N2L types. #9-Aunt Sunshine looks like a good price play. Arky-bred 2nd off the layoff. Watched the replay of his lsat race, along with OP maiden win and LS race after that. His last race he was hustled and tired late. I liked his maiden win despite against AR maidens, wide duel early, up after 1/4 mile, and won convincingly. His next out race 4th beaten 13 wasn't terrible, left at the gate and made up some ground against a going away winner.
Playing the 9 to W/P
along with a 3,9/3,9/all 3,9/all/3,9 tris

The 9 was flat in the lane again after making a reasonable move on the turn.
Villafranco sweeps the opening double. Hey, wasn't he supposed to be suspended for the first 30 days of the Oaklawn meet?
Skipping R3 - competitive N2L types here.

RACE 4
Is this really 50-1+? Ok, probably not at the off but he will be a price to play. They are betting the 12 heavy and understandably so...but that maiden race wasn't SO super to warrant 6-5.
I am playing the 5 to Win/Show and wheeling over and under the 3,4,8,11,12 in the exacta.

Thought that 5 ran a reasonable race at 42-1. He suffered a wide trip hampering his late ability. The 12 was no one and people burned their money at 7-5.

RACE6
#7-Saffas Day was DQd just this last week from his maiden win at Keeneland for a dexamethasone positive. Really his race to lose here. Alive in the double and P5 to him from Strolling's win in the 5th race.
Playing in the double/pick 3 with my price shot #2-Mojo Man in the 7th there.

Barely hung on to win there. That's why you don't bet even money shots at Oaklawn!!!
Double pays $25.50 for the buck to the 2 here in the 7th.

Oaklawn R7
MOJO MAN has some classy past races. May be better on AW surface but 2 of his 3 dirt wins do come at Oaklawn. Think 5F was much too short last time out and looks to be well placed here winning quite a bit last year at this ALW level. Looks to be quite versatile too can be the pacesetter or come just off it a stalking position. Probably my best price of the day at a good price right now of 5-1.
The 4 is taking action but I don't think he is the same horse as he was when he as 3 and 4 years old. His 2 races as a 5yo were OK albeit in stakes, the 2 (and the 6 and 7) have #s capable of beating.

Right about the 4 but didn't put the 6 on top.
Playing the 5 in TAM R10, like the quick return angle for Mike Dini. 5/1/all and 5/all/1 tris too
