Texas inferno size of Rhode Island!

It seems Texas is having a rough time with wildfires, on a norm I don't like to use UK links but this one has many graphics.

I don't know if it's because of "global warming"...but Chicago has had by far the warmest February that I have ever seen in my 50 years of living there. 70 degree temperatures have been recorded for several days...with more days in the 60s. And most of the rest of the month has seen temperatures in the 50+ range. Totally unheard of in that region. It's making me think twice about buying a place in Las Vegas.

I made a joke to my neighbor that I voted for global warming, he replied that it was not global warming and that it was our Sun causing everything with flairs. This guy is a big follower of all thing like that so I put some of his words into DuckDuckGo.

Global Warming, Climate Change, whatever we are supposed to call it, I guess we are just supposed to make radical movements against anything oil.

Completely absurd.

One should look up the thoughts and logical real world solutions of Bjorn Lomborg.

Seems to be the only logical human being on the planet looking for solutions as opposed to creating mass hysteria and the world spending Trillions upon shit that won't ever come close to solving said problem.

Lets enjoy the benefits of global warming. Like Longer growing season, lower heating bills, longer season for motorcycle riding, fewer emissions from power plants, fewer emissions out the chimneys, kids get more outdoor time, fewer school cancellations, less money being spent on snow removal and road salt. less snow shoveling. Damn, I love global warming.

That was one good thing about SoCal, all year was riding season. A few times I gave the finger to the weather man and rode to work on 2nd shift and ended up riding home at midnight in a down pour. Where I lived it rained 10-12" a year but a couple big storms kicked that up. As long as my tires were in good shape riding in the rain did not bother me as long as there was little wind. What I hated was riding in fog, especially knowing at midnight to 2am I was sharing the road with people that could have had a few too many.

I thought this was a funny comment:

Scotland had the same problem with a series of very cold and hard winters. Most stock animals were destroyed and the economy suffered as a consequence.
But, that was between 1715-1720. So much for climate change.
"HOLD ON, THIS IS WAITING...................WTF?"

Mongolia You Say

WorldData.Info site| Last modified: February 2024
The climate in Mongolia:
https://www.worlddata.info/asia/mongolia/climate.php

Quote:
Temperature records of the last 46 years

The hottest temperature measured from 1977 to March 2023 was reported by the Baruunkharaa weather station. In July 1999, the record temperature of 43.2 °C was reported here. The hottest meteorological summer from June to August, based on all 55 weather stations in Mongolia below 1,860 meters altitude, was recorded in 2007 with an average temperature of 17.8 °C. This average temperature will normally be measured every four to six hours, thus also including the nights. Normally, this value is 16.1 degrees Celsius. The average maximum daily temperature at that time was 24.9 °C.

The coldest day in these 46 years was reported by the Gandan Huryee weather station. Here the temperature dropped to -51.8 °C in January 2018. Gandan Huryee lies at an altitude of 1,421 meters above sea level. The coldest winter (December to February) was in 2005 with an average temperature of -19.1 °C. In Mongolia, it is usual to have about 4.6 degrees more at -14.5 °C for this three-month period.

The most precipitation fell in February 2011. With 357.1 mm per day, the Erdene weather station recorded the highest monthly average of the last 46 years. Incidentally, the region with the most rainfall for the whole year is around Erdene. The driest region is near Zavkhan.

Long-term development of temperatures from 1998 - 2022

In the years 1998 to 2022, there were only these 11 weather stations in the whole country, which reported continuous temperature values. From these weather reports, we have created a long-term development that shows the monthly average temperatures. The hottest month in this entire period was July 2007 at 22.2 °C. January 2011 was the coldest month with an average temperature of -26.0 °C.

The average annual temperature was about 1.8 °C in the years after 1998 and about 2.0 °C in the last years before 2022. So it has hardly changed at all in the past 25 years. This trend only applies to the selected 11 weather stations in Mongolia. A considerably more comprehensive evaluation of global warming has been provided separately.

From the above quoted text:
Quote:
So it has hardly changed at all in the past 25 years.
Wait. How can this be?

It's pretty simple actually.

Mongolia is a giant landmass about 2.3 times the size of Texas.

Yet it only has about 3.5 million people.

So the bulk of its land mass is still rural -- or natural -- compared to other parts of the world with major cities that have exploded in population and population density.

Why does that matter?

Major cities exploding in population and population density tend to share a common trait:

Heat Islands.

Mongolia doesn't have heat islands so it's monthly average temperature over the past 25 years doesn't fit the narrative.
