So you produce social media information that only Evangelicals see. You could say things like "it was all in my past"; "I bitterly regret my sins and beg for forgiveness"; " I am now a born again Christian and beg forgiveness as Christ once gave"; "I really respect and honor women" - as they show happy and fulfilled women working in Trump organizations". Evangelicals now forgive Trump and welcome him to their hearts. He can do no wrong.
For non evangelicals you have another set of specific media information which leaves out the religious bits but apologizes and moves swiftly on to the things that trigger their emotions and fears like jobs, migration etc. You tell them that all the adverse stuff is because the media are fabricating fake news". That excuses them from listening to any more of it. They are not too happy with his past but are prepared to overlook it just once.
You might have misread the 5%. I said it would only take 5% successfully effected in UK to completely change the result. About 35% of the voter population had targeted adds and the success rate can be as high as 88%. Polls, pundits, Forex market, bookmakers were all forecasting a comfortable Remain win. It was a bombshell when it did not happen.

Good points.
Relatives of mine live in Indiana and at one time belonged to a fundamentalist Christian church that was basically a cult. They were literally brainwashed -- they wouldn't take their kids to doctors and they still don't believe in vaccinations, but they did manage to get away from the cult. Not sure what happened to the leaders of that church. So my relative from indiana, a big trump supporter, posted recently on facebook that trump had been born again and had accepted Jesus as his savior so all of his sins were forgiven.
When it comes to religious beliefs people rarely change their beliefs. If the preacher and everyone in the community thinks trump is born again it is nearly impossible to change their minds. That is why when you're running for office it helps to say you were born again and that God talks to you and tells you what to do. Fundamentalist Christians are not going to argue with that.
Televangelist (and Jerry Lee Lewis' cousin) Jimmy Swaggart was involved in sex scandals and with prostitutes. He was forgiven because he confessed his sins and people still send money to his ministry.
This is why I say trump and his staff are smarter than Hillary and deserve to be in office. They ran a better campaign. They took what should have been huge negatives and turned them into positives.

Yes, yes, I see.
Uh huh.
Got it.
Check.
Seriously.
Pretty obvious.
Yup.

We should eliminate this targeted advertising then.
If it make us change our vote and vote for a swine like Trump, imagine what else it can make us do?
Do you think they specifically targeted Stephen Paddock with ads that prompted him to shoot up Las Vegas?
I mean, this could explain a LOT of unexplainable stuff.
Who knew this kind of thing was THAT powerful?

You really believe this BS?
Russia invaded our social networking and put roughly 1 million ads out there for people to see.
Hillary spent twice as much as Trump in the 2016 election, while also having every single major network parading her as the 95% likely winner.
In short, you are basically calling out the supposed "smart voters" (as opposed to redneck hillbillies that voted for Trump) as being susceptible to subliminal messages via social media as the reason why Hilllary lost?
Keep in mind. The under 30 age group gave 36% of their vote towards Trump. Thus, the old and very knowledgeable elders of the supposed switched group would be the ones you are hanging your hat on with this conspiracy theory. Also, NY, CA, and IL all had Hillary.
So, in short, you don't like the middle of America that hated her. And for very good reasons because she is a lifetime political nut that has never done anything for anybody but herself. Then again, I'm just a deplorable, so WTF do I know?

Gee, guess what? Who would have suspected?
New documents suggest Las Vegas shooter was conspiracy theorist – what we know
In the documents, those who encountered gunman Stephen Paddock say he expressed conspiratorial, anti-government beliefs characteristic of the far right

And as far as your why would we vote for swines like Trump and targeted marketing....
Fake, misleading social media posts exploding globally, Oxford study finds
https://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/nat...215188910.html
..Russia’s social media blitz to influence the 2016 U.S. election was part of a global “phenomenon” in which a broad spectrum of governments and political parties used Internet platforms to spread junk news and disinformation in at least 48 countries last year, an Oxford University study has found.
Including U.S. government programs aimed at countering extremists such as Islamic fundamentalists, about $500 million has been spent worldwide on research, development or implementation of social media “psychological operations” since 2010, the authors estimated.

hcap, after 6 more years of Trump, expressing conspiratorial, anti-government beliefs will be characteristic of the far left (although the conspiratorial thing is already happening)
