Triple Crown has now become watered down

As I predicted after Justifies win in the KD he goes on to win the triple crown. The Triple Crown in my opinion is not such a great achievement anymore. The horses are sub par, the breeding is extremely diluted and the excitement is just not there . VISA even pulled out because they knew the odds to win a triple crown have become much easier over the years. They saved milllions not being part of the AP and Justify wins. Other then Gronkowski closing like a bullet up the rail the Belmont was boring.

You should go to church today (Sunday) and repent.

Three wins in 40 years is watered down? When horse racing was at it's peak in popularity, there were nine winners over 43 years. Ten winners in 48 years. More triple crown winners is better to attract the non-playing public.

YOU are what is boring. You've got 11 posts, mostly whining. Please, spare the rest of us and let this one be your last.

In 1973, at the peak of horse racing, Secretariat won the Triple Crown and Belmont Stakes in a record time and by 31 lengths.

That was also incredibly boring.

Secretariat was an amazing horse with an amazing triple crown win. If you research articles written back then even the sports writers concur that those races were boring. Boring because there was no competition and Big Red blew away fields. Justify ran merry go round type races with little competition as well.

Over 22 million people watched the Belmont. Rumor has it that more than a few were not concerned about diluted breeding.

VISA dropped its sponsorship in 2006 after the NYRA split with the other 2 tracks over TV rights. The odds to win the Triple Crown were hardly getting easier in 2006. If anything, TV sponsors would prefer more winners. A horse with the first two wins going into the Belmont makes for a huge jump in viewers.

Just 4 years ago some people right here on this forum were predicting that there would never be another Triple Crown winner and some were saying that it should be changed in one way or another. Welp, guess they were wrong, just like you are.

True.

Even industry people were talking about spacing the races out more than the 5 week grind that is the current Triple Crown.

Now we have 2 Triple Crown winners in a span of 4 years and it is 'too easy' to win.

With the grind of prepping for the Triple Crown and then winning all three legs of it, any horse that can accomplish that is GREAT. Period. That grind and all that goes with it is a lot tougher than the competition no matter who it is.

If you cant even spell the name of the Triple Crown winner correctly not sure there is much merit to reading the rest.

Were people calling it watered down when Secretariat, Seattle Slew, and Affirmed won the Triple Crown over six seasons? I really don't know, was just a kid.

Boring? Would it have been "exciting" if Justify lost yesterday?
