I dont believe that with todays social media, they are mostly flash campaigns based on clicks and views.

Yeah I've just accepted the sport gets on the ballot and voted out of the state within 8 years. The media is sticking to this story in a way they never have before.

Totally agree. Peta is look at as an out of control Mental patient kind of like the Green Peace boats trying to stop fishermen only to get fish heads thrown at them. Real problem is if they do get something on the ballot.

That’s why I laugh every time horse people and players cry about them. PETA is the least of their worries. Most people know they are kooks. It’s the fact that the media and politicians are sinking their teeth in and swaying the public. Yeah, rains over, it’s all going away thread...... lol. Like I said weeks ago , this isn’t going away. This time it’s just begun. The vultures are just waiting for the next break down.

PETA has outplayed its hand here, and not in a good way for horse racing. Rather than exploit the breakdowns to get donations, members, etc. - the media got involved and now if PETA doesn't take it to the extreme of getting the sport banned (vs continually using it to grab money from donors), some other organization will pop up and put it on the ballot. It's a no win situation for racing or PETA here because PETA's leadership has the political capacity of a 5 year old

Is Santa Anita past it’s issues? That’s a joke. Cue in another round of scathing news reports and public uproar. What did I say 2 months ago? There are powerful people after them and it’s way deeper than PETA. The heat is on, that’s where all these policy changes are coming from and it’s being felt across the country. People were crying over the changes that are being implemented. Like racing has a choice at this point. They are fighting for existence at this point. At least some realize this. If this continues, holding the BC is the least of this tracks worries. This meet can’t end fast enough for them .

They really need to move it now. What happens if they have a bunch of deaths at the start of the fall meeting and the track has to shut down? There could easily be a situation where we end up with no BC at all unless CD ir DMR is ready to do it on short notice.

I want to go but no way I'm buying plane tickets and booking a hotel when it might wind up getting moved. There's always next year.

BC should send a message and pull it to CD now.

weird seeing what seems from afar as a vague possible correlation between a slower/deeper track at Santa Anita and the successful decrease in breakdowns
they even kept it deep and slow for those 2yo in-training sales, to the dismay of some of the sales participants...
so it apparently is believed to be a correlation
and then I'm tuning into the big event weekend at the big east coast meet, and the track is lightning-fast and I'm seeing record times and speed favoring track conditions?
The more stuff I hear and read, and the less I know.
