What Colin Cowherd was Right About

He said last week that the Cowboys-Giants game that just ended would be the game of the year in the NFL. You know, I think he might have been right!
Cowboys lose with a missed (actually partially blocked this time) FG for the 2nd week in a row. The "other" Manning might make everyone forget about Peyton after all.

Not likely. But he could end up with more rings.

Game of the year intimates that both teams play excellent throughout and the outcome is in the balance until the end. Dallas played horrible defense in the late stages; just about anybody on this board could have thrown the two TDs that Eli did, both times the receivers were way behind the defense and walked into the endzone.

Yeah, and Tommy Aaron made everyone forget about his brother Hank. Eli will never be the player Peyton was.

He might be already if he had played in the system Peyton did. Seems to me the Giants are only now playing Manning to exploit his talents and putting good weapons around him.

I've been a fan of Eli since he started in the league and when you break down his abilities I think he is much closer to his brother than most think.

In terms of physical ability I have never thought it was close with Eli having the better arm, can throw of his back foot or flatfooted better, better ability on the run etc. In terms of physical ability Eli is probably the best pure QB in the league and it's been that way for awhile. Peyton has admitted this since he was drafted.

The difference between him and the elites has always been intelligence and decisionmaking and like CJ this year seems different. He appears to have been given a lot more leeway in running the offense and it's paying dividends his ints (12) are similar to Brady's with the majority of them being tipped balls this year. The one knock against him has always been the dumb turnover here and there and this year with his added freedom to run the offense those are disappearing.

Is he as good as Brady/Brees/Rodgers? Probably not but I have always thought he was a lot closer than most and this year he is proving it.

EDIT: Rodgers may be more physically gifted to play QB but after that its Eli, then, everyone else.

Keep in mind that was the Dallas disappearing defense he was throwing against. The running game was working and He had all day to throw to open recievers. Dallas defense has made some avg quarterbacks look good this year.

Really?? I would rate both Brees and Brady ahead of Eli.

It isn't like this is his first comeback this year. With an average QB, the Giants would be about 3-10 this year with that horrible secondary.

This game wasn't even a top 5 game of the season let alone the "game of the year". Seems like you just have a man crush on Colin.

Brees is too short, has batted balls, and doesn't always see the field. Eli is much more mobile than Brady and has a stronger arm. Again I'm not saying he is better than these guys just has more physical attributes you look for in a QB.

Exactly. A week ago this team, led by Eli, took the Packers to the edge.

As a cowboy fan, I would trade our secondary for NY in a heart beat. Dallas's secondary can't cover or tackle. Lesser QB's than Peyton have staged comebacks agianst the Dallas D. Vick looked all world against Dallas.

If you talking physical gifts you have a good point. But I don't think he has played as consistant as his brother. Including his brother, he's definately in the top 4 or 5 in the league.

Dallas isn't good in the secondary, the Giants are terrible. Look at how fast Green Bay and Dallas were able to get down the field at the end of the last two games. It was painful to watch. I think I could get open.

Not me; I like Michelle Beadle. Interested in hearing what Colin's take will be on the Broncs-Pats game this Sunday. He doesn't buy in to Tebow's "talents," and he's got that man crush thing going on with Brady.
