Is elbowing a fellow jockey in the stomach okay now in NYRA? During a race?

There was another 'no call' that went Irad's way in the G2 Demoiselle (R9.)
Imo, despite what happened yesterday - the stewards are sending a clear message:
Herding and a little bumping are ok.

As somebody that rarely misses a NYRA race, I can say herding has been accepted for a very long time. This looked way worse to me, so I don't know what the line is.

when the line is blurred, and your job is to win, and frankly if you dont care about other riders and horses safety, i would imagine you feel like you are doing your job the very best you can.

Watching the head on replays of both the Remson (R8) and the Demoiselle (R9) I wasn't sure what the stewards would do.
I've bet plenty of horses over the years that were DQ'd for less.
Irad did some herding and bumping and withstood objections that (Imo) could have gone either way in back to back stakes races.
I'm thinking he must have a pretty good idea where the line is.

Johnny V. was the runner up in both races.
If I'm not mistaken he didn't object in the G2 Demoiselle (R9.)
It was a trainer's objection, no?

I actually think he keeps re-drawing the line and they let him. He learned yesterday he can't knock a jockey off his horse, so far anything else is fine.

people need to be blaming the stewards and racing jurisdictions since they are the ones not doing anything to set a real line in the sand.

Mostly, I agree. Who polices the stewards? I have no idea. I think in New York NYRA only controls one of them.
There should be some personal responsibility with Irad too.

I am sure this was written prior to today's incident.
And I am going to say something everyone else basically has already disagreed with. His ride yesterday was done on purpose. Pitchers throw to bean batters. Hockey Goons are out to make people bleed. Football has their players looking for blood.
Irad seems like a troubled individual. He not only herded Johnny V with his horse today but was herding and elbowing him in the lane.
This guy will hurt someone. Two incidents in two days. He clearly has anger isuues.

Moving toward the inside is expected but it looked to me like the horse switched leads and then the angle got even more pronounced, no correction was made at that point but there wasn't much time to make one. I'm fine with saying careless riding because you do need to be ready for anything when you're angling in anyways but as for intentional I'd have a hard time saying that.

maybe the riders should be taking it upon themselves to send a message to clean up unsafe riding.
Irad is the focus but being honest its a epidemic the past 10-15 years IMO.
