I'm glad to hear that over and above any risk to your health.

The fewer recurring cases of Covid I hear about the more optimistic I am about the long term.

We were going to buy one if those.
However, it only tells you if you have antibodies - not a virus - and not even WHICH antibodies!

Pretty worthless for the money if it tells you nothing you can use.

It tests for the antibodies that would logically be in the system of someone who has or HAS HAD covid. (Including asymptomatic.)

It doesn't test for antibodies. It tests for antigens. The antibodies are contained on the test strip out of the box...and interact with the antigens FROM YOU (if present)...which results in a POSITIVE result.

Quote:
Antigen tests do have some drawbacks. Depending on the situation, they can be less accurate than PCR tests. When a person is symptomatic or has a lot of virus in their system, antigen tests are very accurate. However, unlike molecular PCR tests, antigen tests don’t amplify the thing they are looking for. This means there needs to be enough viral antigen in the sample for the antibodies on the test strip to generate a signal. When a person is in the early stages of infection, not a lot of virus is in the nose and throat, from which the samples are taken. So, antigen tests can miss early cases of COVID-19. It’s also during this stage that a person has no symptoms, so they are more likely to be unaware they’re infected.
Yes, not as accurate as PCR...but certainly not useless.

Since you were symptomatic, these tests would have been "very accurate"

Your pharmacist sounds a bit sketchy to me...if that was his answer.

Entirely possible (and even logical).

[edit]
And perhaps my untrained brain did not hear properly.

However, the message was clear: don't buy this - especially since you're getting your results the next day.
