It's actually the perfect description of this thread. It's got it all...including your post. Thanks for the help.

So MNR is going to keep the guy calling the races they have now? You have to be kidding me. The guy just flat out doesn't sound right. I think it is his voice and there is nothing he can do about that.

Bobby's attitude towards Pete is extremely deferential. He does not see himself as an apt replacement. Or any replacement at all. He is a foot soldier filling in on emergency.

Surely those hopeful of Pete's return take encouragement from the fact that no potentially permanent candidate now sits in the booth.

Think it through, guys.

And, fwiw, I am 99% certain that nobody calling the shot on Pete reads pace advantage. Make that 99.9

There are two reasons to watch ( and if you watch you will likely bet) Mountaineer and that is Mark pre and post race analyses and Peters race calls

I was a religious member of Mountaineer nation for the entertainment value of both. Not any more.

Peter is not only an astute race caller but a true entertainer with a mixture of a fantastic ability to watch and call a race but add insight and humor.

I have been saying this on this on this board for far longer than whatever is causing this issue has been taking place.

Peter, you are far too good for that garbage dump. Look past it.

Mark, you say the management of MTN does not read PA. With all due respect Who cares.

TIME TO LOOK PAST MOUNTAINEER

I am confident other race track executives read PA and will not let this opportunity to grab up Peter be missed. And I will include harness tracks as well.

As far as TCG The new name for TLG THE CLASSLESS GUY. Forget him.

Even his posse of ass-kissing defenders is down to ONE. Peter, your response to him says it all. You proved one again how much class you have.

All the best

I am fortunate to be in a good positions racecalling wise right now. But it is not just as easy as picking up and moving on into another job. Unless a vacancy comes up, tracks do not see em to changes racecaller much and the number of tracks that run substantial meets continues to dwindle. Also a number of tracks do not seem to care about the standard of racecalling they offer. I just hope Mountaineer sees sense, rehires Peter, so he can do his excellent job without being separated or having to upheave his family.

Believe it or not, you're right. And not just track executives.

In this industry, I'm a lot of people's GUILTY PLEASURE...

Curious: Which tracks do not seem to care about the standard of race calling they offer?

That's something I am quite content to keep to myself. Obviously, it is subjective and this is not the thread to discuss how I think racecallers should be rated.

LOL - I went there once upon a time.

Roamed around the place an hour before post time.

Viewed a sign on the casino door saying

"(absolutely no cameras inside the casino)"

went to the paddock where I viewed a sign stenciled upon the wall:

"(absolutely no flash cameras in the paddock)"

went outside into the empty grandstand where I viewed a sign reading:

"(absolutely no videotaping of races whatsoever)".

I have no problem with any of those rules (and I did not set foot IN the casino)

But then (still at least 45 minutes before the first race, with no more than four humans in the entire grandstand seating area - and I never saw 2 such others at all) I walk to the end of the grandstand, see the beautiful horse path with white fences along the river, and only then did I remove my camera to take pictures of the horse path in the distance.

Of course some security guard (who was perhaps just doing what the {he believed} the idiots told him to do) happened along and said:

"Dey don' like cameras around heah, so wut yuz gonna do is go back to ya cah, and leave the camera in there, and den yuz kin come back to da track" (and then he watched me from afar as I walked across the lot to put the disposable camera in the car)

The puzzle remains: Why in the fuq did they have all of those other signs in there if the rule of the day was "zero cameras allowed" ???

Oh, and then, as a kicker, something went amiss with the lights that illuminate the races, and they couldn't get them back on for 45 minutes past first post.

I managed to endure the place for 5 races, and then I left, never to return.

Exactly Haskin.

Its not about the venue, the trainers, the jocks, and especially the horses that race at Mountaineer.

Mountaineer is about the image and entertainment that Mark and Peter brought each racing night. And when people tune in, they bet.

Maybe their management is simply trying get rid of handle and racing altogether
