You think there was a problem? They were very promising horses I think but I didn't pay attention to the time to be honest.

Promising alright, but very close to the track record and really did not pass the eye test, at least to me. timed it here and could not find a problem, but I really don't have the right stuff to do that anymore.

Track was really fast today, think the time was ok. Not surprising for a big race day where tracks think they need to speed the track up for some unknown reason.

just file it as a ? and be wary of any horse behind by more than 4 lengths.

02-17-2018 TAM R10 --
1/4 mile time shown on track video: 1:25.29
1/2 mile time shown on track video: 1:4826
Guessing 1:25.29 is the elapsed time between when #6 True Romance accidentally tripped the timing beam at the end of the runup after breaking through the gate prior to the start - and when #10 Grand Prix tripped the timing beam at the end of the first quarter during the actual running of the race.
Failure to reset error?

Tampa uses Trakus, not the beams.

Disregard my previous comment (which was made tongue in cheek) about the horse who broke through the gate before the start setting off the timer.
Didn't know Tampa was using Trakus exclusively for timing. Not too happy about that. Thanks for the info.
Serious question though --
How does track video end up displaying 1:25.29 for the quarter and 1:48.26 for the half?
What's the most likely cause when something like that occurs?
Being serious here. I'd really like to know.

It could still have to do with the horse breaking through the gate. What other explanation could there be?

I'm not sure if it's wrong, but i've never seen a 23 first 1/4 coming down the hill at SA going 6 1/2.. Can't wait to see the pace fig on that...

First two runners to come out of that race back today in the 5th. Ran 1:40.01 for a mile and 40 yrds. would say the time of this race is better than average. Best thing is they finished 1-2 and the exacta paid $36.80. And who says the key race angle does not work.

If you want times that are close for the G3 Canadian at Gulfstream yesterday these are within 0.10 at every call. The video times were not accurate and the "hand time" published in the chart is way off.

simple explanation, after 3+ years!
CJ, if you watch the video of that 2015 race, you will notice there was a person walking along the inner rail with a large camera or some such thing which obviously broke the finish line timer before the horses hit the line...watch it again and be amazed!....(I had to watch it 3 times before I caught it) perhaps more errors of this time occur.....pondering the solution?

It's just sad really. I get it, shit happens, but how are these things not caught?

That wouldn't have an effect with Trakus which Gulfstream uses. People like outriders and officials and others can and have caused problems with the beam system.
