New York to show pools?

Yesterday, closing Sunday at Belmont, upon my arrival at a SoCal OTB site(Fairplex),was startled to see the money pools displayed on one of the screens for Belmont. These pools have not been shown for something like the last two years for the New York tracks. Some time ago this topic was discussed in depth on this forum, with no real conclusions.Just how and why they showed up yesterday is beyond me.One of the reasons proposed for not showing pools had to do with the net pool pricing system regarding bets from other nations. Was there a problem with wagers into Belmont from, say,Canada? Will be interesting to see if pools will be shown from Saratoga,or was Sunday just a one time fluke? This player was baffled at the sudden return yesterday of the money pools, and wonder if any others noticed this and have any thoughts?

I've been watching Belmont just about daily and I've always seen the pools on tv. They usually come on around 3 mtp.

Now, 5+ years ago they never showed the pools, but that was then.

Net pool pricing only affects how the wagers are paid out and does not affect the amounts wagered into the pools. The main purpose for NPP is to allow other jurisdictions to set their own retention rates and base the payoffs on such.

Pools

Yes,the general feed to all outlets has always shown the pools,as mentioned ,about 2 or 3 minutes before post for just a few seconds, perhaps 15 to 30.Was referring to a dedicated screen showing only pools during the entire wagering cycle, start to finish. At the SoCal outlets such screens are available for many of the other tracks being presented, but NewYork ceased sending this info quite some time ago;when it showed up for Belmont closing day,it was noteworthy.Because of other commitments, will be unable to attend the races for about two weeks,so will be unable to observe what Saratoga does at this time. The subject of tote board betting action has mixed opinions, but this player finds it helpful, and money pool boards are an aid.

I agree that the more info the better.

It's possible that when NYRA switched tote providers from Scientific Games to United Tote (about two years ago,) the software that the SoCal ITW had wasn't compatible with United Tote's. Maybe that bug has since been fixed. Or, maybe your ITW location simply screwed up and stopped showing the pools. I've heard how the SoCal ITW's can be a little half-assed (sorry Black Ruby.)
