Biscuit: There are 7 stallions on the dam side that can transmit the X chromosome. They are:
The first, second, third and fourth damsire.
The broodmare sire of the broodmare sire
The broodmare sire of the second damsire.
Look at the pedigree of Governor Malibu. His first damsire is Langfur who doesn't trace to Buckpasser. His second damsire is Gulch who doesn't trace to Buckpasser. His third damsire is Easy Goer who is a maternal grandson of Buckpasser by way of Relaxing, a daughter of Buckpasser. His fourth damsire is Private Account who is a maternal grandson of Buckpasser by way of Numbered Account, a daughter of Buckpasser.
The broodmare sire of Governor Malibu's broodmare sire (Langfuhr) is Briartic who does not trace to Buckpasser.
The second damsire of Langfur is Gummo who does not trace to Buckpasser.
The broodmare sire of the second damsire (Gulch) is Rambunctious who doe not trace to Buckpasser.
The above represent the 7 stallions in the X passing position of Governor Malibu. There are 2 sources of Buckpasser's X--one is Easy Goer and the other is Private Account.
Other sources that can transmit an X chromosome on the dam side are the dam, the second dam and the third dam of Langfuhr. These are Sweet Briar, Prima Babu Gum, and Princess Babu. None of these dams trace to Buckpasser.
Another source of an X chromosome can come from the dam, Jameela and her dam Asbury Mary. Neither of these two dams trace to Buckpasser.
Still another source would be the tail female line consistenting of Governor Malibu's dam, Akilina, her dam Fahamore, her dam Cathys gal, her damClassy Cathy, her dam Trestle. That line does not trace to Buckpasser.
So, Governor Malibu has two sources of Buckpasser's X. One is by way of Easy Goer and the other is by way of Private Account. Note: The only sources of an X chromosome for a male horse must be found on the dam side of the pedigree and ultimately must come from the horse's dam.
A filly will receive an X chromosome from her sire and another X from her dam.
