Did Tiz the Law ever really beat a top 3 year old of any stripe?

When he raced in the Kentucky Derby, he had almost 1 1-4 miles, with dead aim even and not a straw in his path, to hook and pass Authentic, but he couldn't. He tried, yes, but couldn't.

Still, all the experts claimed he lost because didn't like the track.

In the BC Classic, he was in the hunt early but he never threatened nor really ran a lick. The same experts claimed he just hated the inside this time. And they blamed the jockey, of course.

The horse's poor effort did not stop TTL's shameful owner and trainer to first knock the ride and then to publicly fire Manny Franco. Add to that they gave the mount to John Velasquez MONTHS before TTL's next race!

Too much energy has been wasted making excuses for both this horse and for their undeserving connections.

I think that Tiz the Law's connections are some of the most admirable people in the entire sport. But what do I know?

The owners seem like good guys. How admirable do you find Barclay Tagg to be?

Tiz the Law is a pretty easy read the way I see it.
Up until the Derby he hadn't beat any kind of a good horse,the Derby would answer alot of questions about his true talent level.
In the Derby he caught a dream trip thanks to Ny Traffic and Honor A.P.
Honor A.P. didn't break well,then took a bump from Paco and Ny Traffic......giving TTL his first "clean" path......next Paco went right to the inside giving Tiz a ridiculously clean trip early on in the race.
The rest of the race he had everything his way.......he just couldn't pass Authentic......Zero excuses......Tiz wasn't good enough.
In the BC the gate went TTL way again,Tacitus on the rail broke so-so.....Be My Standards in the three hole broke out somewhat.....and voila....nobody near TTL early on in the race,Tiz could do whatever he wanted.
Manny Franco took hold of him,and angled him out a bit because that's probably what he was told to do.
So TTL waited for his run,all the while saving ground on a track where that was a good idea.......everything was just fine for Tiz.
Then he caught another break.......Max Security stopped......and Improbable made his move when he was supposed to......Tiz had clear run on the second turn......TTL did not respond......Franco asked......Tiz didn't give.
Tiz has gotten two easy trips in a row and not delivered.
And it just doesn't work if folks say he doesn't like the inside......too bad,great horses don't care where they're at.
The other excuse that Franco choked him down doesn't hold water either......if Tiz goes up and duels with Authentic he's done.
