Fractional Time Errors

Delta 8th race last night timer post finishing time way before finish. Off a 47 1/5 1/2 the timer pops up at 58 for final time. These fillies ran at least 1:00...

Something is fishy with the 1/2 time for the Phoenix Gold Cup at TuP yesterday. Video showed 42.90, chart shows 44.00. It was a blazing fast track yesterday and the reported 44 seems slow to me believe it or not. Maybe 42.90 is too fast, but it was faster than 44 IMO.

The 42.90 from the teletimer seems about right to me. I have no idea why they changed it to 44.00.

Here's the funny thing. When the teletimer screws up, often they're unaware.

Then the teletimer is right, but they think it's wrong and mess things up. They think 42.90 is too fast, even though the horse running in 4th position after 4f was 6 lengths off of the lead, and the eventual 1-2-3 finishers were running 7-4-6 after 4f (an unusual circumstance, to say the least). Plus they don't know enough to realize that when the final time is 1:07.73, an opening half-mile of 44.00 isn't really very fast comparatively and would be highly unlikely to cause such a total collapse of the 1-2-3 runners in the final 2f. And to top it off, they don't even know how to handtime their own track with semi-reasonable accuracy, which is really not all that difficult.

I notice that they also changed that TuP 5 fraction at the 5f mark from the teletimed 54.94, which seems correct, to 55.84 which is definitely wrong.

That was my thought too before having looked at video. On the raw pace/speed figures it fit well. I'll do some video work today.

Today some 12k claimers at Turf Paradise ran the opening half-mile of a 6f race in 43.64, and yesterday a female allowance runner went gate-to-wire with a 43.37 half, so why would they think that legit 75k older male stakes horses can't go 42.90?

The teletiming of the Phoenix Gold Cup was in line with other 6f races at TuP. I checked those races plus one other 6f race yesterday where the early fractions were much slower and they were all basically correct.

Now the question is: will they admit their mistake and change back to the correct teletimed fractions for the Gold Cup?

It was said before and I will say it again.....

It's done on PURPOSE, so that certain people can extract an edge.

We have juiced up horses, jocks stiffing left and right and as if THAT'S not enough, mistiming to deal with.

Makes the hardcore people want to abandon the game.
