This endless supply of bible quotes that you provide us with here...are you under the impression that we've never read them all before? How many times have we pointed out to you that we've read it all before...but we don't necessarily accept it as the "Truth"?

Your OPINION is what we are looking...in your own words. We already know what the opinion of the bible is. When soneone asks you why you accept the bible as the authentic word of God...don't just quote for us the bible passage which claims that the bible is the "Word of God"...because that's not an answer. Tell us WHY you believe what it says in the bible. THAT'S how interesting conversations are created. Parroting the verses of the bible endlessly is "preaching"...and that's not what we are looking for here.

This is a chat room, not a church.
But why settle for mere opinion? I'm not here to share my opinions (although on the rare occasions that I have, I made it clear that it was nothing more than that). I'm here to share God's truth which is in his divine revelation.

As far as the bible being truth and the reasons why I believe it is so, I have often stated my reasons in my own words. Guess you missed those memos, too.

Oh yeah...one other thing: Surely you are not restricting the practice of religious freedom to a mere building called a "church", are you? When my church goes out evangelize, we preach the gospel to the world -- outside the four walls of our "church building". (Understand, of course, that Christ's church is NOT a physical building!)

"God's truth which is in his divine revelation" is your opinion. As well as your painfully absurd claims about how the universe works.

It's recorded in the bible. You could start with the four gospels, then work your way to Acts.

No, it's not my opinion. It's the "opinion" of scripture.

This is the same "scripture" which reports eye-witness testimony of prophet Elijah being carried into the sky aboard a chariot of fire...right?

  • Been there. Done that.
  • Any secular evidence?
  • Exactly who were these witnesses? Names please.
  • Were they ever cross examined?

You mean scripture is somebody's "opinion?"

I guess according to boxcarian circular reasoning, scripture must then be God's opinion.
As per Descartes....."God opines so he must exist"

If you really had "been there, done that", you would know their names. And just who was supposed to cross examine them? What makes you think they were on trial?

As far as I know, their names are recorded only in the Sacred History Book, a/k/a the bible.

I suppose. In God's "opinion", he is the author of scripture.

Really? Over the years I've asked that same question of clergy of several denominations and have yet to meet one who can rattle off the names. Surely these men had "been there, done that," i.e., read the Gospels and the Acts.

In any event, it's rhetorical.

Look up the definition of "cross examination." It's not limited to trials. There's debate, peer review, etc.

So there is no secular evidence. Right?

So there is no "record" (outside Christian propaganda) that these men ever gave testimony of this most extraordinary of extraordinary events? Right?

The most extraordinary of extraordinary claims requires the most extraordinary of extraordinary evidence.

Do you regard this as the most extraordinary of extraordinary evidence?

Applying this to our religious expert...
"I preach therefore I am"
