BloodHorse 12 Best Colts of Decade...
Thought it might be fun if we choose our best 12 from the list the Bloodhorse choices...they are in alphabetical order...wether or not we agree on the 12, these are the ones the Bloodhorse picked:
Afleet Alex
Barbaro
Bernardini
Curlin
Ghostzapper
Invasor
Lost in the Fog
Mineshaft
Point Given
Smarty Jones
Street Sense
Tiznow
They obviously left out several we would have put on the list...and from these 12, man, I think it's hard to choose in what order to rank them.

He may have been one of the greats had he not been cursed, but I don't see how Barbaro can make that list. I loved him, and was greatly saddened when he died, but he doesn't have the record or longevity required to be in the top 12.
Ghostzapper had a 4-5 race and four month career. Is that list saying that no other worthy horses ran in the past decade to beat out a summer romance horse like Ghost?? I guess the males have sucked it up in the 2000's if that's the case.

that list seems to be lacking many of the faster, older horses in favor of 3 yos. Bleh.

The same Mineshaft that was outfinished by Perfect Drift? I'm kidding, sort of. On that list (which was awful by the way) I had him 3rd or 4th to Ghostzapper. But in my opinion he wouldn't have been able to run early, or late with Ghostzapper.

The reason the list is lacking is because the BH has downsized their staff considerably over the past few years and most of the people working their do not even follow racing; they are slaves to the breeders/TOBA, aka their advertisers.
If I voted using their list, I would put Lost in the Fog at the top. Any horse that can win a graded stake with lethal cancerous tumors enveloping his spine is lengths ahead of the field. I know we covered this in another thread, but his win in the Aristides at CD is very emotional for me, especially with good ol' Luke's call of "the champ is back" as he crossed the wire.

Medaglia d’Oro, a winner of nearly $6M and one of the best middle distance horses to run during the decade should be included on the BH list; it doesn’t hurt that in 17 lifetime starts he toted less than 121 pounds only twice and failed to finish less than second in any of his races only two times.
