Just a Rant

After a losing week: In all the books I have read, they say beware of the lone E-horse, I am seeing more and more where I should have been more aware of the lone S-horse. The horse that was 10 lengths behind at the 1/2 mile pole and wins by 3 lengths. Like I say, just letting off steam.

sure, be aware, just dont make a living on those S horses, they tend to break your heart more than they buy you dinner.

totally agree.

Off the pace animals on the main track have 3 strikes against them at the outset 1: they are passive observers of the pace of the race and can do NOTHING to alter it, 2: their rider has to time his/her mover perfectly, never quite knowing how much the pacesetter(s) have left or when it is best to move, 3: they have to get through the traffic mostly slowing down in front of them, and a side note, they have to run at a part of the track that is left to them unlike the pacesetter(s) that have the choice of where they think it best to run.

TURF (being upside down pace wise) is another story but TRIPS there are more important that pace most of the time.
